  1. Hey! Unfortunately I think once it's closed you're no longer under consideration. Keep applying though! I started in December and it was extremely difficult to get in. Hoag will hire internally first but try and reach out to any connections you may have to help you get in.
  2. I saw a post on another thread where it says Spring dates for 2025 are still TBA ?
  3. Hello, Did any of y'all have luck in getting interviews? I've been looking for clinical nurse I positions and all of them had said that they require 1 year experience minimum. Any advice on finding new grad positions?
  4. Same! I can only find the info for NorCal applicants so I'm wondering If the dates are the same..?
  5. I noticed that too! I asked about that in my email as well so I'll let you know what she says. I'm also looking at UCI and MemorialCare (Orange, LB, and Saddleback) and I was trying to figure out how to apply for KP SoCal's residency program, but Hoag is my dream hospital. What about you? ?
  6. Hey there! I also applied to the CCU earlier this month and mine says it's still under review. I applied to sub ICU, OR, and tele positions as well and my app for sub ICU is still under review but OR and tele are closed, which I'm guessing means that they did not consider me. I emailed the head of talent acquisition and got an automatic reply saying she's out of the office until Friday, so I'm going to ask her then! I'll keep you updated on what I find out ? good luck! The only thing that confuses me is some of the clinical nurse I positions require 1-2 years experience. Does this mean we're going up against people who have experience? ?
  7. Sure, no problem! You get one week long breaks between Spring, Summer, and fall semesters, and a month long break between fall and Spring. Then you also have a week for Spring break in April and fall break in November.
  8. If you start in the Spring with the trimester pathway, then you'll have 2 summers which are accelerated (12 weeks I think, I forget). It's a lot of work but completely doable and it goes by super fast! I started Spring 23 and for second semester we had intermediate med surg lecture and clinical, health assessment lecture and lab, pharmacology, then gerontology which was asynch. It was seriously like a fever dream LOL I barely remember going through it. But they switched pharmacology to first semester now so it should be way less crazy. Also clinical days in the Summer are 12hrs vs 8hrs in Spring and fall, that way you get all of your required hours.
  9. Not if you start in Spring! It's pretty much a year ahead. But if you start in the fall it's a semester ahead (technically 2 if you count Summer plus fall). Semester pathway starting in Fall: Fall 23 Spring 24 Fall 24 Spring 25 Fall 25 Trimester pathway starting in Fall: Fall 23 Spring 24 Summer 24 Fall 24 Spring 25 Semester pathway starting in Spring: Spring 23 Fall 23 Spring 24 Fall 24 Spring 25 Trimester pathway starting in Spring: Spring 23 Summer 23 Fall 23 Spring 24 Summer 24
  10. Congrats!! And yes it is! I'm doing the accelerated track and I like it because we get more autonomy at the hospital since we have the same clinical site through the entire program (Long Beach Memorial) vs semester having multiple. I also heard that semester only gets a few days in the ICU vs us getting an entire semester in the ICU. There's pros and cons to both. I'm not going to lie I'm always exhausted because I've gone a year without a real break since the one week break we get between semesters is spent preparing for the next. But, you get a month break between fall/Spring and the added bonus of graduating a year ahead of when the semester track would.
  11. Nice job! Usually the threshold is about 9.3 and Spring is definitely way less competitive. To anyone else reading this comment that's applying for future semesters, take the TEAS twice!! Same test and you're more likely to get a higher score. Currently in semester 3/5 and I know my cohort's threshold was around 9.3 so I'm rooting for you!
  12. They require an integrated chemistry course (general, organic, biochem) equivalent to CSULB's Chem 140 or a general course that is not integrated and either inorganic, organic, or biochem. I took Chem 210 (integrated gen, organic, and biochem) at Santa Ana College.
  13. That's strange...I would see about taking the chem and history at a CC maybe during a Winter/Spring intersession and schedule your UD-C course first semester with your other classes unless your second semester looks pretty light. GERN is second semester and you can take a 3 week option or 6 week I think. Easy asynch class-so if you only have 3 classes your second semester then I would squeeze in a class there. If you're semester I would take advantage of the summers and take your classes then. I'm assuming you're trimester though, which can get stressful at times but you'll be able to find a way to get it done! Just takes time management.
  14. I'm in pharm right now (second semester). Are you sure they have you doing it first semester? Usually first is just foundations and patho. If you took patho already then they move pharm to first semester. I have to take a history class too but I'm going to either see if I can do it in the Winter or at a CC.
  15. Technically you just need it by graduation but I recommend taking it first semester. Second semester is packed, third and fourth semester are going to have classes that will take up a lot of your time and energy from what I've heard, and fifth semester you'll be working the same shift as the nurse that's precepting you along with a NCLEX prep. I took CWL-415 with (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) and it was pretty easy! She's very lenient-especially with nursing students.
  16. I didn't study much. I just reviewed some videos on YouTube the morning of. I recommend Carolyn McAllister for English and Language usage! She explains things really well. Honestly, the TEAS is nothing to worry about! I would study if you struggle in certain areas but nothing to get stressed over. For science, I remember there was some chem, some basic micro, and mostly reproductive, hormones, and digestive- but it might have changed though!
  17. Hello! I'm from the Spring 2023 cohort and Spring is way easier to get into than fall! (Less competition) I had a 9.7 impaction score but I think the threshold was 9.3. Your GPA is solid and I recommend taking the TEAS twice (have to wait a month in between tests though). You'll most likely get the same test and it's easier to score higher if you can remember what you struggled with on the first one. Also you can pull your report on the ATI site and look at the areas you scored lower in. I think I went from like an 87 or 88 to a 92.7 overall and boosted my reading from a like a 94 to a 97.4. Also if you're a veteran you get a tenth of a point towards your GPA and local preference. I recommend checking out the Spring 2023 thread to get a better idea if the kind of scores that were accepted! Lmk if you have any questions ?
  18. Hey there! If you don't pass the GWAR I think they told us you have to take a writing assistance course to help you develop your writing skills.
  19. I think it's like $600 up front before school starts and then you have payments for semesters 2-5
  20. It's split into payments though! I think it's like $500-600 a semester. ?
  21. Unfortunately you have to purchase the ATI package in order to do the required modules.
