  1. Verbal offer 3/31/22, official offer mid-June, started 8/1. Theres a lot to the on boarding process. Ask LOTS of questions when it comes time to the paper. There is no appeal so one and done. Good luck!
  2. @nursekingdom It's easy. I'm in PACT and the workload is nice, the benefits are great! They are expecting the nursing boards to be abolished FY23 and transitioning everyone to a different scale so looking forward to that. The boards are antiquated and suck.
  3. I’ve heard that too. They do not allow any type of appeals upon hiring. I went through every channel all the up to chief nurse but was told too bad. Once you are employed and working you allowed 1 appeal per year.
  4. I applied in Texas. I am a NP for ambulatory care unti. The benefits are great. Five weeks paid vacation, eight days sickleave, 401(k) match up to 5%, and so much more. I was unable to successfully negotiate a pay increase, so I excepted the offer and will hope for a promotion in a year. It comes out to be by at 24k paycut ?. But I need health insurance and benefits for my family so here we are.
  5. I’m not an expert in this topic as I just onboarded and didn’t score as high as I would have liked. After reading tons of blogs and such the best tip I have found is to explain the situation, your role, measurable outcome (specific) and to cite your outcome sources. Also be sure explain it from an expert/leader role for nurse 3. Report back on how it goes. I’m going to be sinking myself into all the things this next year in order to write for my RN3 at my 1yr eval.
  6. I did all of that and wrote a 11 page dimensions papers including all that I could even begin to think of. I suppose my CV could be updated a bit more to reflect more. If I end up getting to reboard I will definitely be beefing up that CV. I had 2 nurse 3s who work at VA review my paper and agreed should at least be a NP3. Guess we will see.
  7. I appreciate the info. I have been a RN for 11 years and four of those are NP with MSN-FNP. I was offered NP2 step three, which is insulting. At a minimum I was expecting low NP3 or high NP2. I wrote 11 pages explained how my provider directly benefits the facility with specific outcomes so extremely dissatisfied. I know I meet NP3 criteria. I have involved my medical director, who is also the CMO. She said that she is going to contact people Monday morning as HR basically said it was rated by my peers so it is what it is, buuuuut I’m not buying it. Extremely frustrating.
  8. @RN4KU Hey there, not sure if you're still with the VA. Please send me your Nurse 3 paper, too. I'm boarding currently and was offered NP2 step 3. Asking for reboarding. I have 11 years RN and NP experience so not too happy with that offer. Thanks! [email protected]
  9. @MajesticDancer How did you fight it? I'm currently in VA onboarding nightmare and my offer is low and I believe I am missing some step credits. HR told me offer is firm and final, but I'm not buying it and plan to escalate. Thanks!
  10. I received my official offer from the VA for a NP position. I am a RN of 11 years and NP 4 years of that. I wrote my heart out and provided every single piece of supporting documents for what I wrote. I made sure to specify in my examples of how my actions impacted the unit/facility. Well, I was boarded NP2 level 3. I was fully expecting low NP3 and would accept high NP2 at a minimum. Y'all the offer is low and about a 30k pay cut from my current position. I responded to HR asking which areas of my paper did not meet NP3 standards and the opportunity to resubmit. I also included my medical director in the email. I was told by HR the offer is firm since it was rated by my peers based on experience, references, certifications, etc. Anyone have any other suggestions or been in this position before?
