Hello, I will be having a fusion on 2/16/06 and would like any advice you can give on pain control for this. my surgeon has said that he will give me intraspinal morphine analgesia that last not quite 24 hours and then oral meds. Does the spinal fluid morphine work well? I am afraid this will not do it. Should I ask for a epidural instead ? I am meeting with him again to discuss this plan and to revise it. I get very sick from iv morphine. I puke my guts out every time it releases. I was thinking maybe a Demerol pca pump. What do you think? Oh yah, my surgery will be from the back approach and not abdomen. He told me that the morphine through the spine will not usually make people vomit but sometimes makes them itch. Is there a way to control vomiting and treat the severe pain? Thanks so much for your time and input. I'm very scared of this surgery and feel I need some type of pain plan to get through this. Thanks again Sheri
