Any one know of any NRP mock code practice sites?
  3. One thing I can tell u after taking a legal class is never ever have O2 on and pitocin running! As the legal adviser stated I canot defend you if that is ever the scenario. And as a nurse who was thrown to wolves when I graduated because I worked in materrnity for many years before earning my RN... If u ever feel overwhelmed/lost or unsure always ask for help or call doctor. Better that than a bad outcome. Good luck it gets better. Is a continual learning process.

Hey all!! Would love your input on my situation. I have been out of nursing school for a little over a year. I work on a maternity unit where we do it all, L&D, PP and NB. We are a small hospital w/ about 350-400 deliveries a year. I worked as a CNA for 5 years on this unit before recieveing my Nursing degree. Last night I was asked to work w/ a new graduate that has had 8 weeks of orientation in OB, and has just come to nights, by oueselves. I was terrified. Knowing what could come in. This has happened in the past. As a new grad I was asked to be the second nurse many times and recieved very little 1-1 orientation , Maybe a month, due to staffing. I know this is unsafe and refused the assignment( before i recieved report). A wonderful dayshift nurse cam in to be there for us. But know I shouldnt be put in these situations. I have been looking for staffing guidlines and bylaws. The AAWOHN ones i can find are not current. Anyone have any links, ideas or thoughts on this matter? I love my job, and the great nurses I work with. We rarely if ever have a CNA w/us because "I was a CNA for 5 years", hear that all the time. So we do it all. I know my license is on the line, but my heart and soul are as well. Just looking for some added input. Fuel to put out this fire would be great as well. Thankyou for your input.

I just heard at a seminar about using fentanyl IVP during labor instead of Nubaine or such.. how effective do you find it to be and how slow do you push it??and what are the effects on mom and baby?
  6. im graduating this week and planning on taking the NCLEX as soon as I get okayed to, whats is the quick result thing, I know u can pay and find out early but is this something u have to do before hand...any amount of money is worth NOT having to wait so long!! LOL
  7. I am a second year RN student(two quarters left!!) I've already had my maternity rotation and i have worked on my hospital's OB unit for 4 years and absolutley love it! We did our process papers in APA format , id be glad to email u the info they wanted for ours and the format. It is basically a head to toe assessment of all systems of mom and baby, their labor or surgery and response to it, and the post partum, mom and baby care. I would be glad to help if i can. Please send me a private message (PM) or use my email in my profile page. Lucie
