So I recently popped into an education position within my Emergency Department and was simultaneously thrown into Emergency Management due to my experience at a prior facility. My current facility is small and lacks any sort of proper hazmat training, funding, or resources. So far I’ve gained capital for resources/equipment but I need to dig a little deeper and get my nurses trained as hazmat first responders. The problem being, TJC/OSHA isn’t very clear on the minimum training standards. So I pose these questions: 1 what is the initial hazmat course required if hospital staff? 2 is there a trainer course I can take to provide this information to staff?
