  1. CharlieVazRamRN the program is amazing. I learned so much. I passed ANCC at first attempt. The courses are doable while working and being a parent. I worked full time as a weekends on call hospice nurse. The instructors were reasonable and accommodating. I enjoyed this program greatly!
  2. I am at Herzing as well! Also in 2 courses at a time. I'm set to graduate in April! Good luck ❤️ you got this!
  3. Is preceptor point legit? Does anyone know any other websites to find preceptors?
  4. I need a preceptor for my clinicals August-December. I live in central TX and I am looking for a PMHNP/psychiatrist who would be willing to let me do a 90 hour clinical with them, either in person or via telemed. Or if anyone knows of someone. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
  5. I am in clinical decision making. In a perfect world I would be following a PMHNP but there were none available within a 3 hour commute all directions (I live in central TX). I'm just wondering if a PMHNP has to be supervised by a psychiatrist, or is it just any MD?
  6. I'm still in school…… just starting clinical but I'm with an FNP this clinical so he can't answer a lot of my questions. Thanks for your input ??
  7. I am wondering if a PMHNP in TX has to be supervised by a psychiatrist or if it could be a family medicine MD/DO? Also, for the practicing PMHNPs out there, what all do you treat?
  8. I started the program in March of this year. I LOVE the courses so far. I feel they are easy to follow and my instructors are very awesome at giving feedback and advice. I live in rural central Texas so I was panicking about finding a preceptor. My clinical advisor told me about ENP network. It’s a network for NPs, preceptors, and students. You pay a fee, I think around $100 but I forgot the exact amount. I have secured three preceptors for my upcoming clinicals in March 2023. Your first clinical can be an FNP as long as they practice psych as well. You also have the option to do so many hours of telemed. I am truly happy with this program. I do suggest using ENP network. There are also some programs that charge for a preceptor that I’ve looked into for a backup plan. They range from $800-$1000 for a 90 hour clinical. I think one is called Preceptor pointe. If anyone has any questions just email me. All one word: chandra j hill @ Gmail dot come. No spaces I’d be happy to help!!
  9. Hey! So I am full time at Herzing! I have been taking 2 courses at a time. Here is my degree plan! I’m currently in 2 courses and my clinical readiness class.
  10. @bluefox491 hey there! I have been completing courses since March! Everything is going wonderful. This Summer I had a community and public health course. I did not enjoy my instructor. We had to create almost a “faux” clinical. She was extremely critical of everything. Especially discussion posts. I am in research methods and theory now. I enjoy both of these courses tremendously. I start clinicals in March! I have secure two preceptors for my first clinical course. @Medicalmusic I’m so excited for you! I am really getting in the swing of things. I truly enjoy the program. The support from teachers, my clinical advisor, and the university itself has been awesome. If you ever need anything please let me know!
  11. Hi everyone! I am in the central TX area (1 hour from Abilene/San Angelo, 3 hours from Austin/DFW/San antonio/Lubbock/Midland. I am willing to drive up to 3 hours for clinicals. My clinical is a 90-hour clinical. If anyone has any information, it would be greatly appreciated. My town has one mental health provider, and she does not allow clinicals. I have reached out via email, phone, and mail to every provider I can find around me. I must secure a preceptor by November. Preceptors may be an MD, DO, PMHNP, FNP that specializes in mental health, PA that specializes in mental health, PsYD with RX authority, CNS-psych with RX authority. My clinical must be in person, no telemed.
  12. Hey! Congratulations! So my first two classes were awesome. Basically nursing leadership. Initial discussion posts due by 2359 on Wednesday. Peer replies (2) due by Sunday at 2359, along with any other papers or assignments. Every week you also have modules you have to complete. These are your “textbook chapters” you’d normally read from a book. They’re full of good information and no fluff. I love it. I’m in community and public health now and I absolutely hate it. You create a project clinical. There’s so much busy work. The instructor I have is SO petty and rude. But I only have 2 weeks left LOL. I haven’t started clinicals yet. I start those January 2023. You have to secure your own preceptor. It sucks. I still haven’t found one and I’m panicking. I’d be happy to answer any questions!
  13. The instructors are very easily accessible. No I had no exams at all first two courses
  14. My first two courses were discussion posts, papers, and power point projects. Your initial discussion post is due by Wednesday. Then you have to respond to two peers on two different days. These are due by Sunday night at 1159 pm. Papers and other assignments are all due by Sunday night as well. To me, it’s been very manageable and I have loved my instructors.
