Get paid to go through CRNA school...
Yes, they will still need the annual nursing proficiency evaluation done and I believe if you're grade 02 like me, you would get a step increase every two years. You will earn a Texas RN salary while stationed in Texas for the first year, and a Tennessee RN salary while stationed in Tennessee for the last two years. I was hoping to get a California Salary throughout CRNA school, LOL, but I am very grateful for not having to be in debt after I graduate.

USAGPAN 2023
Congrats ICURN326! I am ecstatic to receive the acceptance letter for USAGPAN/Baylor too. Per email with our VA Liaison, "As Dr. Reedy stated during your interview, the decision regarding the number of VA EISP USAGPAN positions to be funded is often not released until later in the fall. Therefore, notification by Baylor regarding approval for admission will likely be extended to a greater number of applicants in relationship to the number of positions that will actually approved by the VA." What happens when six candidates accepts the offer and applies for the VA EISP but it turns out that the budget only allows four spots? How does USAGPAN/VA determine who gets the coveted four slots?

USAGPAN 2023
Thank you, you'll do great too. Let's hope we both get the coveted VA spot. Ahh, you picked a great time for an interview...I had chosen the earliest spot. 0600 to 0645 in PST. Why? Cause, why not?

I haven't had the interview yet, it is scheduled for tomorrow morning. I heard they're only holding two days for VA interviews. When is yours?

USAGPAN 2023
It will be a panel interview with the director and/or deputy director, the VA CRNA Education program representatives and the Phase II liaisons. This interview will be clinically based and related to your ICU experience. What is your typical patient and the pharmacokinetics of the drug therapies used? What are the mechanism of action? The adverse effect? Dosage? I am practicing for the interview as if I should know my patient down to the molecular level. Haha!

USAGPAN 2023
The last information I received from Dr. Craig and Dr. White is the last interviews are scheduled for the second week of July. They will notify the chosen accepted VA nurse to submit their application to Baylor's University before the application deadline on Tuesday Aug 01, 2022. For the last interview, it is not an email. It is a phone call with the interview coordinator from a verified Florida phone number. Then, they will send a Microsoft Teams confirmation to your listed email. I am so thrilled to be invited to the last interview. Time to brush up on my CCRN. Also, did anyone else get an invite?

USAGPAN 2023
The old USAGPAN forum mentioned.. "Your Phase 2 interviewers will examine your character, family life, and of course academics too. They want to have some level of confidence that you will persevere through the challenges, which are far greater than that of civilian CRNA school. A lot of it is about aptitude and fortitude. Your GPA, GRE scores, LOR's and CCRN prove your aptitude, while your life experiences, character, flexibility, honest self awareness, and never surrender attitude will demonstrate fortitude."

USAGPAN 2023
Congratulations on getting the interview! A 3 day interview! I hope lunch is included. I wanted to ask if you are applying as a VA applicant, civilian (direct ascension) or active duty?

USAGPAN 2023
I was wondering can you put in an application as a VA applicant AND as a Civilian to increase your odds of getting in? Or are you only allowed a single application? I really want to stay with the VA until I retire. I am thinking of going the civilian route because as a VA applicant, my greatest weakness is my GPA though, it is about a 3.2. I worked hard on my GRE to get a near perfect score, but I heard that is the lowest priority item when admission committees review applications. I have my CCRN, CSC and CMC. And volunteer experience as a DEMPS volunteer, a charge nurse and a preceptor. I started at the VA as a new graduate nurse, and I worry that I won't be able to stay with the VA because of my low GPA. Does anyone know someone who has obtained the coveted USAGPAN CRNA spot with a low GPA like mine?
