  1. Hello, I’m embarassed to be posting this as most nurses I know seem to never struggle with this issue. I’ve been nursing for 5 years. After a shift, I always go home feeling incredibly anxious that I’ve forgotten something or done something wrong. I do work a fairly easy shift, but anytime I go to new units/facilities etc. I go home and stress out about if I made a med error, didn’t do a procedure properly, should have done something differently… I sometimes push myself to work different units/facilities to force myself to improve my skills or go out of my comfort zone but lately I just feel like the post-shift stress and worry and anxiety is NOT worth it!! I have yet to have been told I did in-fact forget something… but it hasn’t prevented me from worrying. I do sometimes make silly mistakes, and perhaps that is adding to my stress. I am always incredibly careful: second guess everything, triple check everything… I have many nurse friends but they have never mentioned feeling this way and usually brush it off when I bring up my feelings of inadequacy. I’m not sure if this is common or if I need to reach out to a doctor/therapist. Any advice?
