Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) ELMSN 2023
Hi @achoo, Sorry for the late response! There are a few people that live in the area near campus, but I'll be honest with you, the only good thing I think could be said about the Parkland area is its proximity to campus. I live in the Olympia/Lacey area and most mornings my commute is around 30 min. It's a pretty quiet and residential area that's pretty conducive to family life. If you're looking for something closer, I would maybe look in Edgewood (20 min from school), as there are a few more apartment places out there and it's in closer proximity to Tacoma and Seattle if you're looking for weekend fun in the city. South Hill is also a nice little area and probably equal distance as Edgewood, but you'll be a bit more out in the country. There isn't really a good way to avoid commuting to clinicals unfortunately as some of those can really be out in the boonies haha! But it is what it is. We're all pretty stoked to meet you! (my cohort that is). My email is up above, feel free to reach out if you have questions. I may take some time getting back to ya, but I'll respond. Respect! Zach Cristae, Find my email up in the thread and send me a message, I'll give you and Cassandra a low down. Zach

Hey Ryan, Yeah man! Got pulled off the waitlist with a month to get everything squared away. It's been a ride thus far! Frustrating, rewarding, challenging and gratifying. The gambit.. but overall a fun experience. Shoot me an email at [email protected] and I'll try and answer what I can. -Zach

Hi J, we've got a few California transplants in our cohort. The general consensus, is that they enjoy WA. Totally understand the hesitancy though, tuition is high and the cost of moving would be rough. Best of luck on a tough decision. -Zach

Sounds reasonable. Good thinking.

My application portal did the same. But I didn’t see a place to submit proof of vaccination. Did anyone else?

Linfield ABSN 2022
So I go through Google “Linfield University application portal” and when I sign in to “check my application” it brings me to that page. However, when I click on it (that application) it brings me to the same page everyone has described haha I think it’s because I had two applications in? We should find out tomorrow right?

RJ, I hope you get in there too man.. and we get in. As of now, it just gave me the option to accept a position on the list but nothing about placement. This process is so shrouded in mystery haha. cdahl Baller! Cue the endless Jeopardy theme song.

Great news! I presume that because I was given a generic answer, then I didn't get accepted. Best of luck to you all!

I emailed them last week. They said they had a large number of applicants and they hoped to be sending out letters sometime soon. Seems like a pretty generic answer to me. Considering that at the information session I attended before the Dec. 1 deadline, they said that they hadn’t seen that many applications come in.

Hi Nursegal LPN, You're right, according to the numbers for 2021 it is approx. 77k for the two year program. But it's probably closer to 80k if you take in to account books, insurance for clinicals, uniforms..etc. Personally, I would be using education benefits from the military if I were accepted. I don't know if they have any scholarship options. But it might be something worth looking into. ? There's still time to apply if you're interested. Apps close the 15th of Jan. and we matriculate May 31st/June 1st. Good luck to you as well!

Hey @Rjmetzker! We're three strong now haha Undergrad has been a rough go for me as well. I'm still finishing up a few classes for my Bachelors; however, I completely changed as a student once I figured out what the heck I wanted to be. C'est la vie. Either way, I'm tickled pink just being able to apply to a grad program. Never thought I'd be at this point. Wainwright.. brrrrr.. I've heard it's beautiful up there though. I left out of JBLM in 2018 and am down in Olympia. Good luck to you boss!

Right on! @Kai1819 gotta hold down the fort haha I was an EOD SFC myself. Glad to have ya on the forum. Hopefully we can keep everyone company and from bouncing off the walls in anticipation with this thing. The information session I sat in was later in November too. So, it didn’t sound like they had as many folks apply before the deadline, as in previous years.

Dang! Well I hope you and I both get in.. sounds like we're pretty good picks if you ask me ?

Woo! Good luck to us! So in the information session I sat through, they said they weren't receiving many applications so far this cycle. But I'm holding out for Feb. (looks like we read the same forum :P). So happy someone started one for this year! Yeah, no problem. 13yr Army vet cGPA: 3.15 (Deployments made school tough for me) Science/Pre-req GPA: 3.83 3 Recommendations CNA Volunteer at Free Clinic helping the underserved Secretary of Pre-Health Club Run Ultra-Marathons to raise money for Charity (cancer research mostly) How 'bout you? Are you applying to any other programs?
