I don’t know about anyone else, but the nurse corp award has definitely put me in a tax upheaval. They are not taking enough federal as they are taking more in social security withholding and on top of this, I just got a raise at work and with the nurse corp money this pushes me in a higher tax bracket. It is fairly discouraging to get this award only to lose a chunk of it and your income to more taxes….

I would apply all of it while the interest is in the Covid freeze it all goes to principle right now.

Has anyone In nurse Corp received an October payment yet? It seems my September one was about this time but my October is not even processed yet. Thanks!

I wasn’t even paying attention that it was a rejection letter from the other program! But I was removed from the running for that when I accepted Nurse Corp so it still surprises me to get this! Thank you!

I just had my first payment processed and it was taxed.

I also worry that the third year award will be unattainable…

For all those wondering about tax free, I asked nurse Corp and they said this is a loan repayment program and not loan forgiveness so doesn’t sound like it will be a tax free award…. My accountant doesn’t think so either…..

Hi! I just received my nurse Corp welcome packet! It does say that it will be taxed and when I asked my accountant, she said that she does not know anything about it being tax free. Also if anyone can answer who has gotten a third year award, obviously with the award I will drop out of tier 1 for the third year. Will that affect my chances of an extension? Thank you!
