Nothing against you, I appreciate your insight. I’m afraid one clc can be good and the other a nightmare. I know how tenured government employees operate. The cnas will call out or do the bare minimum and I’m fearful I’ll be doing meds and emptying bedpans. I’m a male, so that’s another strike. I’ll be in probation so thats against me. The manager of the unit isn’t even the person I interviewed with. What does that tell you? I had an opportunity to work in a clinic setting for the dod but I freaked out because I got robbed in the city where I was going to work. I so regret it now.

Passing medications to 25-30 people and doing treatments, admissions, answering phones. Where have you worked and have also done CNA work with all that?

Just curious if any RN or lpn that has has worked in a excepted service position ever leave or transfer to another position they were qualified for out of town or out of state to another VA or agency within the federal government and how difficult the process was? Did you have to apply for the role you we’re interested in and complete with the public or just other federal employees? Is there an advantage if you already an federal employee and your applying for a role out of state. I’m thinking when my one year probation is up, I want to relocate out of state. Thanks

Getting a job at dept. of veterans affairs at the community living center (VA version of nursing home). Does anyone know if they make the LPN do CNA work also? I’ve heard it from 2 people.

Massachusetts. So it’s not really day shift because they make you work other shifts? They say you know 30 days ahead of time? Is it always the same person that gets rotated or do they start at a top of the list? I can’t do nights! If I had known they rotate shifts, I wouldn’t accepted the position. They really didn’t mention this during interview and the job posting just says days with Rotation. I thought rotation meant weekends like eow etcc. Temple, Texas. I’m familiar. I lived in Waco back in 08. My first Lpn job was in prison at women’s prison in gatesville. I should of stayed there!!

How often does brotation take place and how long? A week a month, 3 months?

I’ve been going through the whole onboarding process and got my final offer as a practical nurse with the Community living centerThe original posting said for the schedule it would be days with rotation. They’re telling me it rotating weekends, which I’m fine with. Further, it says I may get rotated to another shift like evenings and nights. My interview for the position never mentioned rotating to other shifts. I reached out to reach hr and they only stated “ The union contract requires that nursing staff will rotate fairly and equitably.” Anyone in a similar role as mine have to rotate shifts? How long and often does occur? Apparently, the supervisor is on vacation all of this and next week. Any suggestions?
