CPS flag
I haven't been on this thread in 2 years, but I just wanted to give some insight/info on my experience... It took several months from the time I graduated to finally be able to get my ATT code and sit for NCLEX (graduated in May and sat for NCLEX in September) . And that was 2 years ago when they first began this new "CPS Flag". I had to re-live my past (15+years ago) and explain to complete strangers uncomfortable, embarrassing, & traumatizing situations that I had worked extremely hard to overcome. I do understand why they are doing these kinds of checks, but I disagree on how they are approaching it. I NEVER abused my child or anything of that nature!! I think they need to reorganize and rethink the structure of this. But anyway....I pushed my Liason that was assigned to me to get this done. I know I drove her crazy, but do not sit back & wait! Be on them to get you in front of the Board ASAP. I want to say that the Board only meets twice a month so if you aren't persistent, then you could be waiting quite some time! Good luck to all!!

Niyele, I had to do a CORI with my investigation as well. It came up negative. I do not know what the process would be if it had come back as positive though. I also had to provide letters of support/references for my case. Do not give up! I was terrified & thought I had gone to nursing school for nothing but everything turned out just fine ? Good luck!

Thank you! ? I applied back on 25 May. And yes, I opted to do the meeting via Zoom, but there is a call-in option as well

Hi!! So I went before the BORN last Wednesday. I had to sit on hold for a good 3 hours ? but once I was let into the meeting it lasted only about 3-5 minutes. Each member votes after your investigator presents all the documentation you've provided. All the members voted in favor of me taking the NCLEX!! ? They wished me luck & I had my ATT code within 36 hours. I'm now scheduled to take the NCLEX next week!! ? I think everyone should be fine & have a good outcome going in front of the Board. It's just such a long process ? But I wish everyone luck!! ❤ Try to remain calm....ill be shocked if they do not approve you!

Hi! So I applied back on 25 May and after submitting lots of letters of explanation, I am scheduled to go before BORN next week. I'm terrified. Keep messaging DPH BORN until you hear something. I called & emailed daily until I finally was assigned to an investigator. She is lovely & has been going out of her way to get my case heard in a (somewhat) timely fashion. The BORN only meets 1x/month ? Good luck!

I applied back on the 25th of May. They are requesting a letter from me with an explanation as to why CPS was involved and any letters of support from family, employers, and teachers.

I was just assigned to my investigator last week & submitted all the documentation that they requested 2 days ago. She's saying that the BORN should be able to hear my case next month but I won't believe it until it actually happens!! ?

I believe it's nationwide but not 100% sure. I do know that Massachusetts only started doing this check for nursing grads back in December or January. I respect why this background check has been implemented but for those of us that are "flagged" from a single incident 10+ years ago, it's very frustrating and extremely embarrassing. I can only hope they can start picking up the pace on these so called investigations so we can take our NCLEX ASAP!! ?

Please keep us updated on your progress with your lawyer as I'm debating whether to hire one as well! Good luck!

Hi, I submitted my Application back on 25 May and just found out that I was flagged due to a 16 year old CPS case ? I've spoke with PCS, the Secretary for the BON, and DCF. They all basically told me that they don't have enough investigators to handle the amount of cases that have been flagged ? Ridiculous! Oh & the Board also only meets one time a month so there's that too!! I feel so helpless & frustrated ?
