How early can I put in an application for Hawaii Nursing Licensure by Exam?
Hi, chare, I am applying to HI for licensure because I live here and am unsure where to hire or even apply. To my understanding, new-Grad positions in HI are scarce and hard to attain unless you have been working in the hospital system during Nursing school (most people wait 2 years after passing their NCLEX to get a New-Grad position) or if you have connections. If I get hired in other states, I still plan to come back to Hawaii once the new grad contract is over. Also, the states I am interested in applying for positions in are non-compact states, meaning, if I do get a job in CA or WA, I would have to put in an application for licensure regardless. Thank you. I will wait to apply for licensure closer to graduation, as I have a better gauge on what path I want to take. I just wanted to see how early I could put in the application because I wanted to avoid delaying my approval to test. Sorry, I tend to plan too much ahead of time because I despise doing things last minute!

How early can I put in an application for Hawaii Nursing Licensure by Exam?
Hi! I am graduating with my BSN in Fall 2021 and want to prep myself for the process to attain my RN license! I plan to apply through the Hawaii Nursing Board. I plan to apply for New-Grad jobs on the mainland; however, the states that I am interested in applying in are not compact states (WA & CA). Therefore, if I do get land a job on the mainland, I will apply for another state license via. endorsement. My main question is, how early can I put in an application for Hawaii Nursing Licensure by Exam? I do know that the processing times have been backed up due to the pandemic. I debated if I should put in an application now or wait until I graduate to do so. I believe the only thing on the application that would delay it would be the official transcript; but, everything else could be done ahead of time (in my opinion). Any thoughts? Feel free to drop in!
