  1. Hi I am nurse. I want job with more flexibility, life work balance and income. especially, if have kids. I have a friend who work in Amazon for a year make 300k and work remotely 8-2pm. It funny that she wasn't majored in CS. I started learning how to coding and I find it fascinating. Should continue learn how to code or go to be become CRNA?
  2. You don't have to be racist. my culture has nothing to do with it. if you don't have anything nice to say. just don't say anything.
  3. I will try to find different job. maybe different unit. Thank you for replying
  4. you are right, I don't know what to do. (it was typo, the question was if you get fired same day, do you still stay and chart or leave?) I asked my preceptor and my preceptor she keep assuring me that I am not getting fired. Just be more friendly. should I quit nursing and go back to college?
  5. I will, Sorry for your loss.Thank you for replying
  6. Hi I am new grad nurse in ICU. my first job as nurse in ICU, I got fired because I didn't like the toxic environment. it wasn't really ICU. most patient was alert and oriented X4. no intubation. been there for 4 month no blue code. I moved to different state, the hospital I am in, CVICU and ICU. I had two months of orientation. the manager told need to extended for another month. One of the reason she said I am not friendly or approachable. Also, my manager said that my preceptor said I complain about how this hospital running but I never did. I am introvert, I don't like talking to strangers, I smile and say hello and that is it. I notice other nurses don't find me friendly. but I do help other nurses when admission or turning patients but not starting conversation. Other nurses think I have mood swing because sometime I am nice and sometime my body language (unaware) give vibe that leave me alone. because I get drained when talking to people, sometime, I cant fake smile pretend that I am bubbly person when two my patients died and getting two admission. I am doing everything on my own now. my preceptor doesn't do anything expect talk in break room with other nurses. the manager tone was like I might get fired If I don't get along with everyone? I don't know what to do? any advice?
  7. I left because she told me to leave. I got FIRED. did you want me stay while she clearly told me to go. both of my patients were stable. I didn't know if I should stay and chart or leave. I was no longer welcome to stay there any longer. she told me don't give report to my preceptor. it was more like coworker issue not med error or anything like that.
  8. excuse me, Do I know you? Clearly you don't know what happened!
  9. Thank you so much for reply. my old preceptor found different job, I was doing great, never had issue. Until, I was put with different preceptor. She didn't like me I guess, reported every small mistake I did. Like I inserted NG tube for Patient and accused me of not setting up the supplies for tube feeding. this preceptor only been year as nurse. never oriented any one. half of the time, she didn't know what she is doing, and asked other nurses for help. I only been with her two weeks and she wrote whole page of small mistake that I did. I am still shocked of the things the manager said to me. She said I shouldn't even work in Med surg because I can't take care of two patient in ICU how am I going to take care of 6 patients.
  10. Today is my 16 week of orientation in ICU. My manager told me about performance plan. What I understood from HR that they normally give me 30 days to improve and after 30 days if I don't improve I will be terminated. But my manager said, "No, we are not going to wait 30 days to fire you, you can quit today." It's not that I am not good fit in ICU but my manager doesn't want me there. Yes, I made mistakes and learned from my orientation. I never put my patient life in danger or anything like that. The problem is, I left work, I did not chart anything on both of my patient because I was so busy. I didn't chart my assessment or note progress. The manager said, "Don't give the report to my preceptor. You can just leave." I don't know what to do. Should I go back and chart or just leave it. In eyes of law, I didn't do anything but in reality, I didn't get chance to sit down to chart. I don't feel comfortable to go back to chart, they don't want me there. Plz help
  11. you are right, I will, Thank you so much for advice
  12. Hi, I am a new grad nurse in ICU. It is a small hospital with only 10 beds I guess, I love the nurses there. It is feels like family and everyone is so helpful. But it is not high acuity, most of our patients are med- surg or step-down. The patients' assignments are so easy, most of the patient is on Room air, not even on one IV drip. I have been there for two months and It is boring, nothing critical care about it. I feel like I am not learning anything new. I did my nurse externship in a big hospital, I saw intubation, and 12 IV drips, and I am more interested in learning about critical care but the staff was snobby, overburn, and rude. In big hospital, I love the critical care, didn't like the stuff (not helpful for a new grad, I had one nurse told me to apply to a different unit because I am too dumb to be in ICU) I don't know If I should apply to a different hospital or not? Thank you

  14. My job offered me a 10000 sign-on bonus for 2 years contract. I was just curious to know if I can ask for only 1 year and get half the amount? Thank you.
  15. Hi I am new grad nurse in the ICU. I fell in love with the unit and the things these nurses were doing. Please don't judge me, what the point of treating brain dead patient? or any patient who is dying but the family won't let go. what the point put patient with 7 IV drip if everyone knows the patient is dying? isn't the patient sufficating because the family decision? Please don't judge me, I am still naive. Thank you.
