  1. I first became a peds nurse before my first child was born. Patients and parents did not really have a problem with me not having kids. You need to know that you are not just caring for a child though, you have the child, parents, grandparents. etc.. When a child is sick everyone is involved. Remember to be compassionate to the parent and understand their fears. The Child is the easy part. I love peds and wouldn't want to do anything else. Kids are great and are so greatful for everything. Good luck!!!!!!
