  1. @Shanise Lakia @FutureRN0516 @Sjj please join the group: Holy Family University ABSN Fall 2022. Pretty sure I can't post a link here but feel free to search on facebook.
  2. @Shanise Lakia @FutureRN0516@Sjj I got accepted as well! Do you gals want to create a facebook for our cohort?
  3. Hey, I've talked to 3 recent grads of HFU (2018, 2020, and 2021), and all of them had positive feedback on the program. They all enjoyed their clinicals and the overall structure of the program. There are 2 classes to complete each 8 weeks. All of them passed the NCLEX at their first attempt and found a job within 2 months after getting their license. I myself am not in a rush and would rather do 14 month, plus the HFU is cheaper than Drexel, although I have 0 info on that program. In any case, here is my 5 cents.
  4. I have decided to move forward with another school. PLU was my dream program and #1 choice, but I've come to realization that I don't quite need a Masters degree just yet, and it would be unwise to invest so much time and money towards it. I will be letting them know soon, and hope whoever ended up on a waitlist will get a chance with this extra spot. Good luck to you guys!
  5. @zxcvb Hey, I'm moving from CA as well! Never been to Pittsburgh and plan to go visit for a weekend to check if out and get familiar with some neighborhoods. I've come across some articles and reddit threads on places to live/safe areas, but so far have no clear picture. I'll keep you posted! Where in CA are you?
  6. @zxcvb I'm an immigrant too, moved here at 22. I got my undergrad in Russia and had to take the TOEFL because of that. The rule of a thumb is that if your first bachelor's was in English, you don't need to take the TOEFL/IELTS, but you should check with admissions.
  7. @zxcvb Hey, I'm from CA too! Will be moving for school. I heard back within 10 days after applying.
  8. @tout_est_gore congrats! @lemonadejuggle 3.2 foreign undergrad GPA, 4.0 prereq GPA, 110 TOEFL, 3 years of hospital volunteering (Med-Surg and ER).
  9. Hi All, I'm about to apply but not sure if there are still spots left for the fall 2022 cohort. How long did it take to hear back once you've applied?
  10. @Rjmetzker yes, their gradadmission email. weird that it went to my spam since I'd received emails from that address before, and they were going through.
  11. @Rjmetzker thank you! not sure if I can afford PLU, and honestly, not sure if I really need an MSN at this point. I have 2 weeks to decide. @Zackattack don't give up just yet, it's still early, and you are an amazing candidate! Wishing you luck!
  12. YOU GUYS CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER! I'm so glad I emailed them, they just called me and said they had sent my admission letter a week ago. It's been sitting in my spam folder for a whole week. I got in!
  13. @nursegal I've been applying all over the country, so got into two programs in Pennsylvania.
  14. @Rjmetzker @Zackattack @nursegal you know what, I'm gonna email her as well haha. Hopefully, this will give them a nudge (I doubt they care though). I've been accepted to two other programs, and they need me to let them know, so I can't wait forever...
  15. @moma7920 I heard back in about 10 days.
  16. @tout_est_gore Just got my acceptance! Waiting on a couple more schools but would be happy to go to Duquesne, it's on the top of my list.
  17. @tout_est_gore I also applied a couple of weeks ago, and all of my transcripts have just been received. So I guess I should hear back within a month or so...
  18. @Kai1819 Congrats! @DNpsy88 I applied by Dec 1 deadline and haven't heard back yet.
  19. I'm originally from Russia, living in LA right now. Got my bachelors back in Russia, GPA 3.2. Prereq GPA 4.0. Volunteered at a local hospital for 3 years (bedside care, ER). Work at a non-profit providing social services to people in need.
  20. @Zackattack Yay! Good luck to us! I submitted my application 2 days ago. Judging by last year, we should hear back in February. Do you mind sharing your stats?
  21. @semitchell23 @emxoxo5001 @kpb23 Congrats to y'all! Do you mind sharing your stats? Also, how long did it take to hear back once you submitted your applications?
  22. Hi there! I'm applying for Spring 2022 admission! Would love to connect to others going through the same journey.
  23. While I do agree with the idea that your volunteering should be community service first and foremost, not all volunteering is practical for careers in healthcare. I would suggest looking into social service options in your area along with volunteering at a hospital. Big hospitals are always short on volunteers and rely on their help, especially at emergency departments.
  24. Hi there! I'm in the same situation + I have a foreign BA, so English is not my first language. My advice is to start taking your prerequisites as soon as you can. I'm not super strong at math, but even for me, stats was a piece of cake. Take one difficult class + one easy class per semester, it is very much doable even with a full-time job.
