  1. Hello, I also have a passion for lab sciences and nursing. I'm glad to see you are also interested in both. I want to continue doing both if possible. I will be starting an MLT apprenticeship in the Fall and will continue working as a school nurse. I was told that with several years of experience in the lab I could apply for MLS certification since I already have my BSN or I can get a second Bachelors in MLS. I've seen online programs for MLT-MLS that are only 11-months long so I'm not sure what I will do when the time comes. I was told during the interview that they typically don't see nurses changing over to the lab rather than it being the other way around. They were surprised to see that I was interested in the position. That is awesome that your state has good opportunities for both fields! Where I live there is a pay cut for MLT and MLS compared to nurses. Good luck on your decision.
