  1. You can apply as a student for the Spring semester but not for the nursing program. The nursing program always starts in the fall.
  2. If you want to get into the nursing program do not apply to another major at CSULA, that automatically means you can’t apply to the nursing program as you would need to be a pre-nursing CSULA student or a transfer student to apply.
  3. You’re welcome! Last years cohort had to pay around $1500 at orientation for lab fees, uniforms, textbooks etc. they’ll give us the list breakdown eventually but I’m guessing it’ll be around the same price.
  4. If you’re paying in state tuition it’ll be about $3500 each semester, so around $8000 a year. If you’re a transfer you won’t be able to register for classes until you go to the general orientation but that’s okay since you don’t need to worry about classes filling up since you have a spot reserved for you for each class now that you’re in the nursing program. If you’re a current CSULA student the registration dates aren’t out yet unless you have priority registration which begins may 10th.
  5. They’re gonna provide all the information at orientation. If you’re a transfer student you’ll have 2 orientations, the one for the nursing program will tell you everything you need to know and provide you with the handbook and rules. You’ll also get an email with all the courses you need to enrol in.
  6. No problem! Your AP stats covers the math. The reason it says math/econ is because you can take the same stats course under the econ department instead of the math department but it’s the same course.
  7. If you pass the AP exams with a 3 or higher you’re good. This is the current rule, that applies to current freshman and previous years but they wanted to change that this year to 3=C grade, 4=B grade and 5=A grade but left it as the current 3 and above means you pass, so it might change again for next year. If they change it to 3=C etc, you’d need to have a 4 or 5 for it to count otherwise you need to take the equivalent course for it since you cannot get a C or you’re out of the program automatically. AP Stats will cover your math class here, either language or literature will cover one of your English courses, not sure if history will be counted due to that when you take history here it usually covers an (re) or a (d) requirement so you might have to take another course to fulfil that part. Definitely let your advisor know about the AP courses you’ve passed when you meet with them over zoom after your orientation and they’ll be able to tell you what AP classes count for what.
  8. Usually it’s Kaiser, cedar Sinai, I know there’s one downtown, one by long beach, one by Burbank, there’s more but I don’t know them all.
  9. You can do your hours anywhere as long as you’re doing patient care as in interacting with patients, ie. bringing them water, a blanket or doing more hands on stuff like assisting with wound care. Filing paperwork at a hospital/clinic wouldn’t count. Not sure if getting your CNA license would help but it can’t hurt, as long as you have hours working patient care.
  10. I would email --------------------- to say you're declining your acceptance into PACSON although you were supposed to respond to the email before the 26th so she might have automatically declined you already. As for the portal I would call the admissions office and let them know that you do not wish to attend CSULA so that you have everything cleared up ?
  11. They haven’t been determined/set yet and they’ve been changing due to covid, for example we could usually do clinicals at cedar Sinai but not since the pandemic, but there are sites all over LA to choose from. They’ll usually give you a site that’s close to where you live so you don’t have to travel too far.
  12. You have to take your Upper Division GEs at CSULA you can’t take them anywhere else so yes they’d be additional to whatever you took at your CC. If you Google “CSULA upper division GEs” it should be the first thing that comes up ?
  13. There are 3 Upper Division General Education classes you need to take. You need to take one from each block (B, C & D) there’s a wide range of course such as English, psychology, language, art etc. you can pick any course as long as you take 1 from each block and 1 of them has to have a civic learning (cl) requirement.
  14. I just got accepted ? TEAS: 85.3% GPA: 3.96 Volunteer hours: 100
  15. You’re welcome! We took it online but I’m not sure how long they’ll be offering it online for. The test wasn’t shortened but I finished with a lot of extra time left so make sure to take your time (if you take it online) because you’ll have plenty of it! You can take it whenever they have the dates listed pretty much everyday at different times so you just select whenever it suits you. You can either take it under a “school” or with ATI TEAS personally I took it with ATI not under a particular school, you’ll see when you check out the website.
  16. She replied to me pretty quickly after I emailed her. Did you send your email to the right address? The one they put on the acceptance email? If you did maybe follow up with her.
  17. You can only take it twice a year and you have to have at least 3 weeks between taking them. You would need to take it this year as the nursing application opens in October and closes in January. So theoretically you could take it 3 times before submitting your application if you needed to, twice this year and once next January.
  18. In my year I was told there was about 200 pre nursing students I believe, but some change majors pretty quickly.
  19. You won’t get priority registration this semester but if you sign up when school starts and work as a note taker this fall you’ll get it for the Spring semester. You can also register with the Office for Students with Disabilities if you have anxiety, a learning disability etc. with a note from a counselor/therapist to also get priority registration. In being a note taker and providing notes for students who need it, you get priority registration for your service and a stipend of about $70 but they might be increasing that! This forum is mostly students who have just applied into the nursing program this year, the decision emails just got sent out recently! There will probably be a new group up for you when you’re applying into the program ?
  20. At CSULA when you take chem, your lab and lec sections are combined for your final grade. Also I believe you need an overall B not a B- but I could be wrong.
  21. You have to fight with other majors for spots in classes, some pre nursing students this year couldn’t get all the classes they need. So I’d suggest going to the earliest orientation date available for you.
  22. Hi! Congrats on your acceptance! You’re not in the nursing program yet you’ve only been accepted into the pre-nursing major. You’ll have to apply for the nursing program in your first year of college, after taking your TEAS exam, and after doing volunteer hours. If you have other questions feel free to ask! ?
  23. Not sure how many are waitlisted but people already in the program that I know didn’t even know there was a waitlist. I’ve heard some people get admitted as late as June sometimes so I think it’s just a waiting game as people who got the initial acceptances, accept or decline their offers.
  24. Thank you! Yeah in the email they specified exactly: “you have been placed on a Wait List”
  25. There is a waitlist actually, a couple of people I know did get waitlisted as opposed to being rejected.
