  1. i'm doing utilization review and my company is going to try to cross train us in tcm. i don;t know how this can be done, as right now, i get between 80 - 100 files a month. Out audits are always very high, but with the addition of tcm... well, i don;t know.. the UR nurses are NOT looking forward to this transition..
  2. thank you very much for your response.. i'm starting my UR career now! still getting used to it.. but i lke it so far.. especially the hours! no weekends, holidays, PTO's.. :) :) :)
  3. what does a utilization review nurse do? what about career advancement/prospects in that field? what do they usually make? thanks!
  4. what's it like working there (kindred) what kind of patients do you have? how about the staffing? is the management supportive? i worked in a hospital that had a very high turnover rate.. the management didn't care if they retain people.. at one point they said the hospital can be staffed just by travel nurses..
  5. why? does kindred have a not so good reputation?
  6. anybody can tell me something about working in kindred at scottsdale? how about living in scottsdale compared to los angeles thanks!
  7. that's what i understand too from my research. thank you very much for your reply! i really appreciate it

i'm an immigrant nurse, i already have my permanent residency card (got it feb of this year) recently i was terminated from the hospital i am subcontracted in (in california) because i expressed concerns about the safety of the staffing and the feelings of myself and my co-workers against a tyrant manager. anyways, they got me for insubordination.. for telling the nurse manager that "i do not like her, most of the staff do not like her, because she does not treat us with respect".. now, my agency (based in philadelphia) is threatening me with breach of contract and with withdrawing their petition. my question is, i've already got my permanent residency card, what petition can they withdraw? and is there any way i can get out of my contract without paying outrageous fees.. he's telling me i'd have to pay them at least 30,000 dollars!!!! help!!!!
  9. really? can't i sue them for breach.. i have a copy of the email confirming the increase in rate.. isn't that binding? darn... the agency is global nursing solutions.. for those who don't have contracts.. go to the hospital and apply directly.. i don't think there are any good agencies out there
  10. hi, i am an immigrant nurse.. i have a question about my contract.. my agency is based in philly but i work in california. The agency petitioned for me here.. now before i signed with them, they agreed to a higher rate (i have the email from the contact person agreeing to this rate), but when i was about to start, they did not want to honor the agreed upon rate.. since i have no choice, i compromised, but then i was promised that after my orientation, my rate would be changed to the original one that was promised.. now when i email my contact person, he does not respond and i have been out of orientation for the last 3 months.. can anybody tell me my options? all i want is what was promised me.. i know contracts aren't valid in california, or so i have heard.. but what if my contract is in philadelphia? what are my options? i like the place where i work.. but i absolutely hate my agency.. i have a two year contract with them, so far, 6 months has passed.. advise please?? thanks!!!
