Hi, yea they are sooo expensive! I did the same as @Jade Spade and bought from the school bookstore. I asked their return policy as they generally won't take returns after Sept 11 as its the first week of school. Since we start the 13th they will take returns on a case by case basis. I'm not going to open the books/access cards, until we know for sure that we'll use them.

Hey there, NYU does not budge on prereqs and the time limit, you won't be made an exception. I took Statistics again too because it had been over 10 yrs for me. Took it at HCCC (Hudson county community collge) in Jersey city. I took it remote and it was one live lecture a week with homework on my own time. It was very straightforward and I could handle it with 2 other classes. They have different sections such as "remote" (live lecture on zoom), or "online" which is everything uploaded already and you do everything on your own time hitting the deadlines. I think you could handle it honestly! Try HCCC, the "Summer I" session just started on 5/24- ending early July! Summer II session is 7/13-8/18. IMO it doesn't signal anything. Many forums and responses on here where the checklist disappears, reappears, with no clear pattern of it signaling an acceptance. They will email you when you're accepted, so I'd just keep an eye out for an email. If you find yourself spiraling with checking your checklist constantly its going to drive you crazy!

Hi there, I haven't read through everyone's responses to your post but wanted to share my experience. I was accepted a month ago. I am changing careers at the age of 40. I've never worked in healthcare nor volunteered. I spent a lot of time in hospitals over a decade because of a sick parent with cancer. I have spent the last 18 years in a successful design career in nyc. I had a letter of rec from a longtime boss of 10 years, and I had a 3.3 undergrad GPA from a very good university for my first bachelor's degree. I have straight A's in all my pre-req's which were taken at a community college in NJ. It is really hard to say how they weigh everything about a candidate. Maybe some weight is on the undergrad college you went to, plus the GPA. I see people saying portage classes are easy, whereas I found all my prereq's to be extremely challenging at a community college, maybe they weigh those things. And its really hard to say one person had a better or stronger personal statement or letter of rec too. I think we all come from very different walks of life, and hopefully your personal statement reflects who you are, and why you want to be in the program, in a genuine way. I wish you the best!

Lauren above says the letter stated one week. I am on my phone so can't look but I already accepted. So if you got in last Monday, todays your deadline to accept. You click the acceptance link in you letter, click Respond to acceptance which takes you to Albert, then go through the acceptance steps to say Yes and then it directs you to pay the deposit. The tuition is usually based on credits. Summer has the same number of credits as Spring and fall (look at curriculum in the ABSN website), so I assume its the same price.

You get 2 weeks at least. I was accepted, there was no hard deadline given. In the faq page on their admissions page they advise you make a decision within 2 weeks, but does not say that it is required. People have to figure out a lot- like financing, so its not at all reasonable to give one week for that.

Its likely the next round of acceptances will happen on Friday. I got my acceptance last Monday the 5th but it was likely due to the Easter holiday, lots of offices and businesses were closed on Friday the 2nd. You can find info on Youtube/blogs...There are people who attend the ABSN program/attended the program who have Youtube videos.

You will get an email stating to check the applicant portal. That's what I got. No point in obsessively checking the checklist, I never did after I initially made sure all my stuff was accurate. From past history reading through these threads it seems people get accepted on Mondays, mostly on Fridays. Try to get offline to lower the anxiety- take a walk, listen to music, etc.

Congrats! I got my acceptance today as well. I have been in a creative field for over a decade, nursing is a complete career change for me. I had a professional letter from an employer, had all A's in my prereq's from a community college, with a pending Microbio class (I expect to get an A), and 3.2 undergrad GPA from a reputable school. I applied before the Priority deadline. I did not check my checklist at all because I didn't want to spin with anxiety... I got an email today and thats how I found out. So watch your email!

Hi! The letter of recommendation does not come from a friend. It comes from a professor or an academic in your life. Read through the FAQ, here is a copy paste if you have been out of school for some time. It isn't required...its just another way to get scholarships/aid. I If your parents support you, they have to fill out a css profile too, so thats where it differs from the one FAFSA form you fill out. I am a lot older than the usual college aged person, and live independently so my parents did not fill out a css profile.

I would honestly look at it as like march madness tournament, like they probably weed out people as they get more applications. Or maybe view the process like its American Idol or The voice LOL. It's really impossible to say though what the process is, no one knows unless you're in admissions. Good luck everyone, don't let your head spin into impossible scenarios!

No I didn’t pay twice. I just did it through common app and nyu received all of mine electronically. One of them I did have to call them to follow up on because it wasnt showing up in my nyu checklist. Two out of the three of my transcripts were free as electronic fyi. Did you send yours by mail? If so you may want to send electronically. My advice here is really pertaining to electronic transcripts since mail probably takes a lot longer... Give them a call or email (you will get an auto reply at first fyi)..., It could be that they wait to make updates, but so far they’ve been helpful when I’ve called or emailed (takes a day or 2 for email response).

Hey there, I spoke to someone at NYU- they said they cannot update the Common app transcript status. So it will always remain that transcripts are marked as "not received". I ordered mine via common app which just redirects to the servicing sites or directly to your college's website. They have a flaw in my opinion with the way that section is processed but I digress LOL. My common app therefore said "not received" when I submitted my application to NYU, and continues to say that. I have my NYU ID/login and in their site they have it marked as received, and thats all that matters. A couple of questions- Did you submit your common app application to NYU? If yes- Did you get the email from NYU that says "Application Acknowledgement" in the subject line?
