  1. @dnpprospect2021 & @Dividebyzero I messaged both of you!
  2. Are you guys apart of the DNP facebook group? It look abit of digging on my part but class schedule is done (I’ll DM if needed) and start date is June 7th. Obviously this isn’t official but schedule of classes wasn’t hard to find. We will officially know I guess on orientation but I’m sure It will not differ from what I have found. Have you all done pre-registration requirements for student health? It is all due tomorrow so I want to make sure everyone has it done!
  3. Thank you! And no worries It’s best to go into it with full knowledge! My cohort seems really small (16 or so people) so perhaps things will be run a bit better than the MDE cohort which I hear is large! Congrats on passing your boards! You will make an excellent nurse I am sure of it. Working will definitely be a challenge, currently seeking a part time position as my current nurse manager will not let me drop from full time to part time so it is definitely a challenge and I do not want to pass up on school. The schedule for Summer already seems daunting. Thank you for the info regarding the jackets! I’m sure they will reach out as we start Summer term!
  4. Completely understandable! I’m sure no matter where you go you will prosper! Best of luck on the boards! (I found Mark Klimeks NCLEX audio review to be the most helpful, that along with Saunders back when I took my boards). How did you like Columbia overall? I am excited to start! P.S. - do you happen to know where students are getting the embroidered Patagonia fleece jackets? I have been searching but haven’t found anything!
  5. Hi sorry for the delay! It is $20,000 in total. $5,000 for fall and Spring semester. I think for the MDE/DNP program there is a seamless scholarship of $40,000 but it is something I’d speak to financial aid about!
  6. $500 dollars by Friday April 9th at 3 PM
  7. That’s good to know that the Summer schedule is manageable! That’s a relief honestly, I was dreading it a bit. Any other tips that can be shared? Look forward to seeing everyone, we are all in for an interesting journey that’s for sure.
  8. I’m planning on staying FT at work. It seems according to their academic plan that 7 credits is considered full-time. So perhaps 3 classes in the Summer is my plan but will see how to things go closer to June.
  9. Another AGACNP! Congratulations! Can’t wait to meet everyone. I wonder how small our cohort is going to be. I recently watched their white coat ceremony from January and the AGACNP cohort was very small...like 17 students! I wonder if that trend continues.
  10. Totally understandable. If this helps anyone, Financial aid just sent me the breakdown for the year. We should be receiving our financial aid packages by the end of next week. 2021-2022 Master DNP_Lat_Breakdown sheet.xls
  11. I'm trying to tell myself that the amount of debt will be wroth it! I know HRSA's NurseCorps has a scholarship available that is open for applicants but I plan to stay in the city after graduation - I'm in the acute care NP Program and I'm not sure if any hospitals in the city count as critical shortage areas (a requirement for Nurse Corps scholarships). Will have to look into it more. Anyone committed to attending? I am but the debt is daunting to say the least.
  12. I completed it but haven't received a financial aid package. They just sent me this email and a excel file with cost breakdown (which I could not open - corrupted file!). However, they sent the following email Dear Michael, For many students, the availability of financial aid can greatly affect their decision to pursue an advanced degree in higher education. For this reason, the Office of Financial Aid is available to assist you in obtaining all the information that you need to achieve your educational and professional goals while you consider Columbia University School of Nursing. This includes all federal resources available to you as a graduate student. Please review the estimated breakdown of your cost of attendance for the 2021-2022 academic year (first 12 months of DNP) attached. Remember the only mandatory costs to consider are tuition & fees (health insurance if applicable). Other budget costs: room & board, books & supplies, transportation, personal expenses are optional. Loan fees are only applied if borrowing federal loans (look for origination fees when completing your loan documents). Please note, your alternative eligibility will fluctuate based on your individual needs. You will receive your Financial Aid Award offer the week ending April 2,2021 (as long as you have completed a FAFSA and eligibility requirements are met). Complete the 2021-2022 FAFSA by March 26, 2021 Please review the guidance below including next steps in the Financial Aid process for accepted applicants. Below are instructions for completing the 2021-2022 FAFSA: The instructions below will serve as a guideline for students applying to graduate nursing programs. Complete the 2021-2022 online FAFSA application at https://studentaid.ED.gov/sa/FAFSA You are considered a graduate/professional student while attending in our DNP program. This should be reflected on your 2021-2022 FAFSA when selecting college grade level and degree or certificate type. The Office of Financial encourages eligible applicants to utilize the IRS Data Retrieval tool on the FAFSA to import their 2019 US Income Tax Information to their 2021-2022 FAFSA. This provides the easiest, fasters, and most accurate information when completing your FAFSA. More information on how to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool and who is eligible to do so is available at https://studentaid.ED.gov/sa/help/how-use-irs-drt Be sure to include Columbia University’s federal school code on your 2021-2022 FAFSA: 002707. Without this code we will not be able to view your FAFSA information. Remember to sign your FAFSA! Financial Aid applicants are encouraged to sign the FAFSA with their FSA ID (If you don’t have a FSA ID, please sign up for one while completing the FAFSA application or separately at https://fsaid.ED.gov/npas/index.htm Common FAFSA Questions and Guidance: Review the information below to ensure that you accurately answer the corresponding FAFSA questions. Answering questions inaccurately will delay receipt of your financial aid package at Columbia School of Nursing. Step One: Question 28: Students attending Columbia School of Nursing in graduate level programs will have their bachelor’s degree prior to attending; this is an admissions requirement. Question 29: If accepted, students attending in graduate level programs at Columbia School of Nursing will be attending as a 1st year college graduate/professional. Question 30: Students attending a graduate level program at Columbia School of Nursing will be pursuing a college or graduate professional degree. Step Two: If you were married or remarried as of the day you complete the 2021-2022 FAFSA, you must provide both student and spouse financial and tax information, as applicable (I.e. questions 36, 37, and 38). Step Three: Graduate Students are considered independent students. Completing parental financial information is not required. What do I do after I have completed the FAFSA? Review your Student Aid Report (SAR) at the end of your FAFSA application. You may be asked to submit other documentation such as proof of citizenship or verification of income. Please make sure all comments on your SAR are addressed so that your financial aid package is not interrupted. If you have any questions we recommend that you send an email to the Office of Financial Aid at [email protected]. Please allow 2 business days for a response. We look forward to working with you in the future. Kind Regards, Office of Financial Aid Columbia University School of Nursing
  13. Congratulations! Excited for everyone, it seems most of the posters on this thread who have been anxiously waiting have been accepted!
  14. I had the opposite experience - Applied to NYU and got wait-listed and then accepted into Columbia. I am confident that either choice will work out well. If you do pick Columbia, I will see you in June!
