  1. Just to let you guys know I heard back from UFV earlier today that they received my request to decline my admission offer, hopefully someone on the waitlist gets their acceptance soon!
  2. Hey just to let you guys know, I emailed UFV health studies last night to let them know that I am declining my seat (I didn't have an option come up to decline or accept when checking my application status) so hopefully someone will be getting that offer soon! I accepted at UBCO. Best of luck to all of you with your studies!
  3. Hey congrats everyone! I've also got the conditional admit, I am most likely going to accept the offer from UBC Okanagan's program though so there's another spot that's opening up for anyone waitlisted - congrats again everybody who got in, and best of luck to anyone applying for the next intake!
  4. Hey! When I referred to my high school average I meant of all of my grades - I got similar grades for most of my classes though so the average probably isn't that far off from the pre-req grades average. I also just received my offer of admission today so fingers crossed for you and hopefully I've been somewhat helpful!!
  5. Hey guys, The interview went pretty well I feel, can't say much due to the confidentiality agreement but all you really need to have is a good grasp on the nursing profession and it's role and its basic principles and morals - which I'm sure if you're heading into nursing you should know already! Just answer honestly and I'm sure you'll do fine. Now it's just a waiting game; good luck to everyone!!
  6. Hey guys, I got the email for the interview invite at 2:30, so if you’re waiting it seems like they send them out at different times. When I checked my status earlier it did say it was awaiting review
  7. Basically how they consider your grades is if you have 0-6 university credits they will only look at your high school grades for admission, if you have under 24 credits they will review both your high school and university grades for admissions and if you have more than 24 university credits they will base admissions decisions off of only your university grades. One thing to note though is if you decide to take university classes at a different institution you have to deal with making sure the credits transfer as well as sending transcripts, and that you probably will get an admissions decision much later than if you apply with high school grades only. I applied as a transfer student (under 24 credits) and my file won’t be evaluated until after my final grades are sent to ubco so l might not get a decision until June or so, just smth to keep in mind
  8. I believe in total ubco takes 120-130 people per year, around half for direct high school entry and the other half for mature and university students. And you can just list any experience or activities in the personal profile, I don’t believe it has to be healthcare specific!
  9. You would need 2 references in total for your personal profile, atleast one of them have to be able to confirm an activity you list in your personal profile. I already posted my high school avg in my original post, and honestly I don’t believe many classes transfer into ubco so unless your high school classes don’t fulfill the prerequisites other than maybe BIOL 131 (I think? I could be wrong, it’s an anatomy and physiology course) I don’t think there’s many uni classes that you can take before being admitted into the nursing program itself. Maybe get first year English out of the way if you haven’t already, but I would check the course calendar for nursing for more specifics
  10. I honestly feel like I didn’t have enough time to write as specifically and organized as I wanted to but I feel like my answers were relevant to nursing and showed my values aligned w the profession well, I managed 5 paragraphs
  11. Good luck everyone we got this!!
  12. Hey everyone! I got the email yesterday for the April 20th information session and I applied for the 4 year option. Feeling the most nervous for the essay and interview to be honest
  13. I just got an email the other day, they said they need my final transcript before making a decision probably because I don’t have very many university credits yet, have you gotten any updates yet?
  14. Hey everyone, I havent seen a thread for the UBCO 2021 intake, so I thought it would be nice to start one for anyone who's applied - I think it would be great if we could talk to each other and share stats, thoughts, encouraging words, or other updates regarding admissions For me, I had an 88-89% highschool avg, though I am applying as a transfer student (1st yr) and I went part-time due to covid and online classes, but so far my uni grades avg 83% and I should have 20 university credits total at the end of this term. I think my personal profile was decent, I have 160 hours of volunteer experience in healthcare which I'm hoping will help. Pretty nervous that I might not hear admissions decisions until may or later as I heard that transfer students don't get evaluated until then, It's definitely going to be killing me when the offers for everyone else start rolling in. Applied for UBCO, OC and UFV, but UBCO is definitely my first choice. Good luck everyone I'd love to hear from you all!
  15. Hey guys! I’m applying as a first year student in science trying to switch programs to nursing for some context. My high school prereq grades were all As, I volunteered at a senior care home and am volunteering at a hospital RN for a total of around 160 hours at the time my reference was sent in. Because I am a science student I did take chem 113 and bio 111 first semester so I’m unsure which marks they will use for admissions but I got an A- and A respectively. Currently taking engl psych and stats to get the electives out of the way while I wait for admissions. Good luck everyone!
