  1. hey y'all. I'm in the process of applying for private loans for this program, and Ascent gave me a referral link where you can save $100 if you do an application through this link: https://college.ascentfunding.com/refer/RF-EHHLDHICG. If you refer someone else, you can save up to $525 on your loan as well, so thought I'd give it a go! Nerdwallet gave ascent one of the best ratings for private student loan options, so they are one of the private student loan options I'm looking into. How is everyone so far in the application process? I got a checklist email not long ago about immunizations and stuff, but I'm dragging my feet to get it done...
  2. Right after completing FASFA application, they give you an estimate of how much you may be awarded. But the official number I think is sent to the school first, and I think it's April that the school starts sending out financial award letters (which tell you how much fasfa will give you in loans). I think on the fasfa website they have the numbers on the limit you can borrow per/year and overall. So how much they will give you depends on how much you've taken out already for your first degree, and whether or not you are dependent or independent (I think).
  3. True that! I may be commuting from Roger's Park, which is a bummer... but I may still move to somewhere closer, I guess I'll know for sure as the semester gets closer! looking forward to meeting you in lab and clinicals ?
  4. My FB account recently got hacked ? But, hopefully I'll be able to see y'all in person this fall! Question: anyone commuting from the city? I have the chance to live with family in West-ridge (Rogers Park), but that's a hellofa commute. Wondering if I'll be the only one committing to a long commute from the city. another question: where are y'all looking for private loans? is anyone even attempting to snag a scholarship for a second bachelors? *I'm hybrid program
  5. Jusy got my acceptance letter! Although I'm worried because they havent sent out the financial awards letters yet, and I would like to know how much I'm getting from fasfa before putting down the deposit.... and we only have 30 days to put down the 500 deposit... I've sent an email to the financial aid dept and waiting to find out a date for when those are sent out. (I applied to FASFA at the beginning of the year)
  6. Mine also just changed to admit checklist ^,^
  7. I'm taking it in CA actually, but it's probably cheaper in IL. I have to look into how the license transfers over to IL, but I can at least be working until I move out there. So far getting some healthcare exposure has been really great to experience and solidify my decision for nursing. Have you been accepted yet? I'm still waiting on 1 recommendation letter and one transcript.
  8. Hey! I'm also hoping to get accepted to the Downers Grove location for the same reason! I'm taking a CNA course right now, and if possible I'd like to work at least 1/week while in school. My advisor told me that it's very doable to work part time while in this program, and a lot of students do. Although it still makes me nervous, because most former ABSN students say it's nearly impossible to do that... But since ours is a hybrid program, maybe it's slightly more manageable for us. As for how I'm paying: I still have some FASFA money left to pull from, as an independent the maximum you could get is 12500/year (I think) so 25000 total (I think). Thankfully I've been able to save enough to just barley pay for living exp for 16 months, and the rest I have to get in private loans T-T.
  9. Thanks! Yes I just got the email from an advisor for the same link ? Anyone else I'm the hybrid program? I'm in CA now, but I lived in Chicago before the pandemic and excited to be go back to the city! Looking to find a spot with my partner in Humboldt Park/Garfield Park/Logan/ or Austin.
  10. Hello all! Good luck to everyone in their application! I'm also looking to apply for Fall 2021 to the hybrid program. I've done a pre-interview phone call last week, but besides finishing prerequisites just waiting for a follow up call... is there another step to the process I'm missing, or an application on the school website? I don't seem to see one.
