Y’all awaiting to be “chosen” to take out private loans to go to a #15 school with a second BSN and now with all this drama of 60+ mile radius clinical placement (after they acquired Langone in Brooklyn) NYU is a cash cow and taking every one to their bank. They need to change their whole structure. They suck dude. Hope Rory burns. Go somewhere else.

If you’re going to spend this kind of money…. Go to a entry MSN program. NYU needs to get with the times. For what they are charging. I’m an NYU alumni grad. There’s a lot of financial politics at that school…and those politics will/and directly dictate why they don’t even have an MSN entry program in the first place. Have y’all ever wondered why every student from the threads states “there’s financial aid opportunity in the second semester”. There’s a big reason for that and that’s why the school it not even top 10…. For that price. I’m sorry. I’m I mean give me a break. It’s ridiculous.

I’ve gone to NYU to my undergrad and for dental hygiene. It’s a great school but IMO The school is scatter brained and it’s not worth double the cost of pace (if that is really the price difference that you claim). You will be an RN when you graduate regardless of where you go and if your goal is CRNA you will need to work as an RN in critical care for at least 16 months and acquire your CCRN. Going to NYU will just put you in more debt if that’s what you’re ultimately looking to do and you’ll be stuck paying private loans 6 months after you graduate.

NYU is def not worth it. Go to pace.

This is my main issue with the NYU nursing application process. The process is so disconnected from the “nursing school” it’s so odd…. They do not even interview you or do anything virtual with pre-filmed essay video questions or anything. It’s very odd.

My checklists are all still there and I applied dec. 24th. I also consider myself a very competitive applicant. I wouldn't go by that.

It sounds like you both have good problems to have! Haha. Just pay your deposits… the whole application process for all these schools is just dreadful. All the waiting etc. good luck to everyone.

Thanks for the info! Yes when I spoke to “admissions” they said the same which is fine by me. Though… if you look at last years thread someone claims they were accepted off the waitlist into the MDE/DNP program. So I don’t know…Have to take everything you read on here with a grain of salt. The good news is…deposits were due yesterday so there’s a chance you can be hearing back soon! Good luck to you!

Thanks Brennan! I hope you're right! Yes I took Stats online through University of Rochester last Spring prior to submitting my application. My friend who is currently in the MDE program used the same school for pre-reqs so I am sure they are acceptable.

damn right its about the money.... like Dr.Covid said... I am not going to take out another 250,000$ in student loans to make less than 200K a year.... you crazy!

Thank you so much. Yes it’s been frustrating having other NPs say to me that I should be working as an RN for a while first etc. I’m 37 years old LOL. I don’t have that kind of time to waste and I have no interest in working in other fields of medicine besides dental and dermatology/esthetics. I guess you’re always going to get people who advise you to something else first which makes virtually no sense for me. Especially because dermatology is so specialized

I appreciate your response. I am in NYC so salaries tend to be higher. So is cost of living.... It’s nice to hear some numbers regarding practice ownership because all the average salaries for NPs online seem like they are reflective of hospital employment or being employed at another practice and not owning. I know there’s a lot of “variables” with owning but one would have to assume that it’s at least 200k once you nail things down. Personally, I have no interest in working as an RN or as psych or family nurse practitioner. I strictly plan on going right into the dermatology world. Focused and Learning whatever I can... considering the dermatology fellowship program in mass but that’s another two years. I’m sure I could gain more knowledge working with dermatology and plastic surgeons in two years vs the fellowship?

Thanks.... I’m a dental hygienist with a bachelors and looking to applying to the direct masters program which then turns into the DNP at Columbia university. I plan to focus in dermatology and esthetics. I am just being blunt and seeing if it’s common to make over 200k a year owning your own practice because if not it’s not worth the hassle of going and taking out more student loans. Rather just go to dental school or med school then... I do like the autonomy NPs have.
