  1. I think I read in past forums that most students got $12,000. I'm guessing they meant in loans, because it's a second bachelors degree and we're excluded from certain other aid like grants. Stony Brook's Fin Aid office is really good with responding via email/phone.
  2. Oh interesting. It's all confusing. I'm definitely independent because of my advanced age LOL, but I found out sometimes there are certain aid packages for certain majors that can only be granted if you provide your parents info (ie if you are from a low-income background), but I contacted Stony Brook and they said as an independent student I'll only be eligible for indepedent level financial aid packages, and there are no awards for students who are independent who also list their parents' info.
  3. I didn't even submit mine yet. I'm independent of my parents, but the form says if you're entering a nursing program, you may want to report your parents' info anyway - except it doesn't elaborate on this at all so I'm not sure if I should report or not. I would think you can still be eligible for something through federal or TAP, even though it may just be unsubsidized loans. We are probably better off calling Stony Brook's fin aid office for any questions though.
  4. the academic calendar on the website has the semester dates up. it's 6/6 to 8/16 for our 10-week Summer, then a 1 week break, then 15-week fall semester, then about a 1 month break, then 12-week Spring semester + 3 week capstone. Based on past threads, Summer classes are all day MWF, Tues is skills lab, then clinicals are 12 hours Thursday, Sat or Sun. But, can't say for sure that this will still be the case for this Summer. I think we should have 2 full days off in the Summer but we won't know which until they give clinical assignments and our schedules. Pretty sure everything except orientation is going to be in person. My neurotic brain is having a lot of trouble dealing wtih all the not knowing, so I have been studying past threads a lot LOL
  5. Should I be doing that now? LOL no one has heard anything about plans for orientation, enrollment, where exactly to send transcripts, right? I keep checking my email and solar and everywhere to make sure I haven’t missed anything after the deposit!
  6. Thanks, I guess I might as well! I'm in my mid 30s and really conflicted on whether I'd rather finish and be an RN sooner, or finish a year later and be able to keep my part-time job for the next 2 years. I guess this would at least maybe give me an option and some more time to decide.
  7. Did anyone else apply to the basic BSN as well and get an interview request? I already accepted the ABSN offer but am conflicted and wondering if I should just interview so I can decide later if I get accepted to this one. I'm in my mid-30s so it would be nice to finish sooner, but it would also be nice to keep working and saving money while in school for the next 2 years.
  8. Interview offers just went out...anyone else get the ABSN acceptance but is still going to interview for the basic BSN?
  9. I don't think anything is till mid-late April if I'm remembering last year's thread right. I was hoping we would've gotten a little more info by now but I guess it's still pretty early? I don't have facebook so I can't join the group there and I feel so disconnected to the whole prospect of starting school in June LOL
  10. I would think they would send something! Hopefully soon but who knows
  11. If you look in past threads, it looks like no one gets their schedule of classes or clinical assignments until the week/a few days before classes start. I'm hoping we'll get more info before then, but it won't be a schedule unfortunately.
  12. I applied to the 2 year too, and honestly I'd rather be in that program to have a better life balance and be able to learn slower, but I accepted the ABSN offer so I wouldn't miss the deadline. I am telling myself it's better to finish earlier even if the year is extremely painful and I have to dedicate every waking hour to it. I also just assumed their system will delete my BSN app, but I'm not sure how it works. Did you reach out to them about that?
  13. Me too, especially since they're 12 hour shifts. Clinicals can be anywhere from Queens to the Hamptons, right? But I guess that's only 1-2 days a week and classes are 3-4 days a week, so it's better to be closer to SBU? I'm really not sure how it's set up and apparently we don't find out our schedules until a week before classes start!
  14. I really appreciate you replying to everyone’s questions, and congrats on making it to your last semester! I think I the interview the faculty said clinicals are randomized - is that every semester and is every part of it random (days, location, unit)? I have a wedding one weekend this Summer and am wondering what happens if my clinicals are on weekends or if I should just plan to be totally unavailable for anything besides school and clinicals all Summer. I’m also curious how wide the range of different experiences are - like can you always get peds to gerontological to psych or do you only get exposed to certain populations at random?
  15. Thanks- mine is up too! Did you just pay the tuition deposit? That's all the offer letter mentioned to pay but orientation fee is also showing up.
  16. I don’t have facebook, let me know if there’s any other way to connect with the rest of you once you get the group assembled there ?
  17. Okay, here's what I found out regarding paying deposit on SOLAR. If we only just accepted the offer on SOLAR today, we need to wait till tomorrow for the system to process it and then populate the fields for the deposits, so that might take up to 24 or so hours. Then, we should be able to see fields for tuition deposits, orientation deposits, etc. and select which to pay.
  18. I'm pretty sure it says it when you go on SOLAR to accept or decline - I think it was 10 days but you can go on there and check. Deposit I'm not sure.
  19. Glad it worked! I'm on chrome now too, but the tuition deposit still isn't working. I'm going to contact the help desk soon.
  20. Make sure you're on the full desktop site. Go to these tabs Main Menu --> Self Service --> Student Admission --> Admission Decision Response
  21. I may have spoken too soon....I'm seeing confirm selection for the deposit, but the selection is blank on firefox...I'm gonna clear my cache and wait the full 24 hours and see if it appears so I know what I'm selecting.
  22. Someone on here said they already contacted them and we need to wait 24 hours after yesterday's email for it to show up as payable on SOLAR. edit: I am seeing that the option to accept the decision on SOLAR is up now - maybe once we press accept there, the deposit option will appear? If you go to Self Service --> Student Admission --> Admission Decision Reponse, you can accept the offer on SOLAR. Now that I did that, my deposit is showing up!
  23. I can't get in either. Any chance you're an alum? I am and am wondering if maybe it remembers my old password from a few years ago and so my birthdate won't work. There is an option to reset the password I might try
  24. Yeah, you have to go back to the main application status page, then click something that says Decision Reply Form, it's at the top above all the other green check things
