  1. OMG love the it's always sunny reference ?. Did you get into Columbia's MDE or MDE-DNP? If you're really focused on becoming an RN first and aren't sure whether or not you want a specialty, I would say go JHU!
  2. Hihi! I was admitted to Penn off the waitlist about a week ago, so now I'm deciding between there and JHU! I'm almost certain I'll choose Penn, however, because the program aligns better with my career goals. I definitely want to be an NP and I was accepted to Penn's BSN-MSN, meaning I don't have to reapply to a school once I'm ready to get my NP specialty. That's really the main difference between Penn and JHU for me. Also location- I'm so unfamiliar with Baltimore, but Philly is really close to NJ, I just feel way more comfortable with the thought of living there. And I agree with you- the admissions process for nursing school is balls-to-the-wall! I was first accepted at JHU (and I was really surprised, but considering it's ranked as the #1 MSN school, I assumed I'd get in everywhere else) then I was accepted at Northeastern. I was then waitlisted at every other school: Penn, Columbia, and Duke. It's just weird, but I appreciate that JHU seems to be looking for a diverse cohort rather than just an insanely smart cohort (because I really did not have the best grades in undergrad ?)
  3. 53% - depressing? What do you mean? Acceptance rate says absolutely nothing about the program itself
  4. I believe in one of the webinars they said it’s typically around 35-40%?
  5. Thank you! I got in for the combined ABSN/MSN. I got the email around 8:15 PM tonight to check my application status!
  6. I just got in off the waitlist! 90% sure I will be committing ??
  7. I noticed that and it was sent on the Wednesday of this week last year ? so maybe tomorrow? I emailed Filomena a week ago and she basically said they would know this week if they can pull people off the waitlist
  8. Wow thank you so much! that's really helpful. The program starts a little sooner than I thought. I assumed it would be mid or even end of June. Really hope to see you in Philly too! ???
  9. Waitlisted people! I think there will be a wave of decisions sent next week, just based off of last year's thread. This is also contingent on if they have spots available for those waitlisted, due to people declining their offers of admission on Friday. Fingers crossed, I'm super hopeful! ?????? also does anyone know the exact start date for this program ?
  10. CUSON decisions were a SHITSHOW, literally took my name off the waitlist because of it
  11. Manifesting that I get off Penn's waitlist, and if I do, see you there!
  12. Did you apply for the direct entry BSN/MSN? or do you already have your BSN and are applying for the MSN?
  13. Columbia waitlisted me (I removed myself from the waitlist) but JHU accepted me. Different schools look for different types of students! Also to everyone who hasn't heard yet - no decision posted doesn't necessarily mean rejection! I know I keep saying it but even though the wait sucks, they still accept people on the last day decisions are sent.
  14. Were you waitlisted?
  15. Yes, you have to take either one semester of human anatomy and one semester of human physiology, or two semesters of A&P (so A&PI and A&PII). If you are accepted at JHU, your matriculation into the program will be contingent on finishing A&PII and sending that official transcript in. Good thing is that JHU doesn't start until Fall 2021, so you have a while to take A&PII on Portage or even with JHU. Don't stress now, just wait for your admission decision, and if A&PII is listed as an outstanding prerequisite (it will be on page 2 of your acceptance letter), then register for it on Portage or at Community College, or with JHU asap!
  16. Guys I remember this same thing happened to someone in the early deadline! They were taking their prereqs at JHU and when decisions were starting to roll out, a second record was created for them. I don't remember whether or not if this person ended up being accepted, but I’m pretty sure it would happen to everyone taking JHU prereqs! I wish you all good luck. And remember, just because you havent heard back yet doesn’t mean you’re getting rejected- I know the wait is killerrrrrr especially when decisions are going out sporadically throughout the week. Don’t get down on yourselves because there’s really no rhyme or reason to the order of decisions from JHU! I was accepted on the very last day they sent out early deadline decisions. Stay strong!! ❤️
  17. Of course! I received $15,000 total (not per semester), which hardly puts a dent in the overall tuition ? although I am extremely grateful. To be fair, I wasn't even expecting to get into JHU, so I was super surprised I actually got a scholarship. Others in this thread mentioned receiving much more in their merit scholarships, so it's definitely possible!
  18. I received a merit based scholarship in my acceptance letter. Not sure about need based!
  19. Also, for the early deadline people, they sent out our decisions over about a week period. I was accepted on the very last day of that week and pretty late into the evening. I was getting super discouraged because it seemed like a lottttt of people had already gotten accepted by Monday or Tuesday, so I thought for sure I’d be rejected. It is still possible to be accepted at the end of the week, do not lose hope!!
  20. Chances are, no. My goal is to start nursing school ASAP no matter where I go, so considering I've gotten into JHU, I would definitely go there over reapplying to Columbia next round. Columbia isn't my #1 school but I really thought I would get in, so I actually want to know what about my application wasn't good enough for them. My biggest fear is waiting until the next cycle to apply with the false sense of hope that I'll be accepted and then ending up getting rejected and having to wait even longer to start my nursing career. I just genuinely want to know what I can do to improve my application, considering I was also waitlisted at my #1 school.
  21. ARE YOU KIDDING *** I had no idea. I'm so sorry! That is ridiculous of them. They can't find a 30 min block of time in the next few weeks to meet...wow... I mean really, July?!
  22. I was waitlisted for the MDE program, so I emailed admissions asking what about my application went into that decision and if there is anything I can do to improve my standing as an applicant. Jose from admissions reached out and set up a meeting with me to go over the decision this week, so if anyone else is in the same spot as me and wants to know why you got rejected/waitlisted, it seems as though admissions is more than willing to meet with you! ??
  23. I didn't prepare for the interview at all because she ended up interviewing me on a whim when I was calling to check my application status. Honestly, the interview was very easy, and I basically just ended up reiterating the things I wrote in my essay (why nursing, what qualities I have that would make me a good nurse, why PMHNP specifically, etc). Really low stress, I think they more-so want to have a conversation with you rather than interview you! She did ask me a lot about my undergraduate research (since I did mention that influenced me to choose the PMHNP specialty).
