I agree with one of the previous posters- it seems this question has been strangely interpreted from what the original poster intended. I interpreted this as "should there be some sort of professional communication training?" Which for young new grads would definitely be helpful. And those types of skills can be easily taught. In my first career, I absolutely had communication training. Part of it was how to prepare presentations, documentation, technical communication skills. But another part of it was learning the different avenues within the team, learning the heirarchies, and learning professional dress, behavior, and even informal communication expectations. For some people, mostly those who grew up in a certain socioeconomic and cultural class, those skills are really basic and second nature. For many other people, especially young people just starting out in a professional field, those skills and expectations are super unfamiliar and can be anxiety producing. It has nothing to do if they are too sensitive, or want to be coddled, or are otherwise unsuited. It is about knowing and understanding the culture of the profession and learning to navigate it appropriately. And having a segment or unit on those types of soft skills can only help those students feel more confident and be better employees.

Does anybody know what the schedule is for the Nursing program? Like, what are the dates for starting, breaks, etc. Do they just follow the normal UNG undergrad schedule, or do they have their own schedule? Also, how do the summers work? Are there clinicals or classes, or is it a traditional Summer break? Thanks!

Accepted in Dahlonega! I literally cannot believe it. Somebody pinch me. Great job to everybody that got accepted, and to those who haven't been accepted yet- you're time will come! Try again next semester, and know that you are good enough and you are worthy. Sometimes the cards just fall a different way when it comes to admissions. For those who are second degree students, if you didn't graduate from a Georgia school, how are you getting your Georgia history credit thing that is required? Do they offer Summer classes for it? Thanks!

I don't think UNG has an accelerated program? My understanding is that the nursing program is 2 years after pre-reqs have been fulfilled, regardless if you come as a post-bacch student or not.

I already have a degree, from a different school. So I'm not entirely sure how they have recalculated my GPA. I can't find that information online- on my UNG transcript, the GPA says something like "completed" not an actual numerical score. It should be somewhere between 3.5-3.7 I think. (My undergrad GPA was around 3.5, my masters was around 3.7, so IDK). When you talked to you advisor, who did you talk to? The advisor that was assigned through the UNG portal? Or a specific nursing advisor (like the admissions people). I think I need to talk to somebody to have several of my questions answer (GPA being one of them), but I'm not entirely sure who the right person to call is.

Hi guys, I'm actually applying for the Fall 2021 program at UNG, but I wanted to come on here and ask if any of you knew of pros or cons for choosing the Gainesville versus Dahlonega campus? (higher chance of getting in in one or the other, better teachers, better facilities, etc.) I want to submit my application today, but I am having a really hard time choosing. FWIW, I currently live in Gainesville with my husband and 13 month old daughter, so I am also weighing the different childcare options, ease of finishing up classes before 5 to pick up from day care, etc.

What campus are you all applying for? Are there pros and cons between Dahlonega and Gainesville?

Hi everybody, I'm about to take the HESI and for my fall 2021 application. I'm a little worried about the math section. From what I can tell, it is 50 questions that you are supposed to answer in around 50 minutes (plus or minus like 10-15 minutes). I know UNG stipulates no calculator. However, I have taken a few practice math sections and from various resources and frankly, there is no way to complete those questions in 50 minutes (I know how to do all the calculations fine.) Are the calculations on the exam much simpler than practice questions? I see people saying that the math is basic and simple/ easy but the timing is really getting to me. Any tips or advice? Thanks!
