I am sorry this process is so stressful (and at times confusing). I understand completely. I graduated in December and was so stressed back in October when trying to apply for February residencies. I got an offer from a different BSW outside of DFW, so I am somewhat familiar with how the process works. This first phone call / interview is with a recruiter - NOT a hiring manager for your prospective unit. The recruiter basically just confirms the info on your resume and is there to answer questions. Next, you have an interview with the unit you're interested in. More than one person may be interviewing you. Be prepared to answer situational and behavioral questions, and come prepared with questions of your own. DFW is so competitive for residency programs. I would encourage you (and everyone + myself) to keep an open mind. Even if you end up getting an offer for a specialty that isn't your top choice (like med-surg / tele for example), I say go for it! You will learn so much and can switch to a different specialty in the future. BSW is awesome. They have an accredited residency program which really does prepare you well to practice as a nurse. Hi everyone. I had my phone interview and am scheduled for a teams interview in April. That feels so far away but it will be here before we know it. I chose oncology. My next interview is at the Plano Regional center.

Not yet. I should be more patient considering the application just closed on Friday. I do believe interviews start next week though per their website. Hopefully we hear something tomorrow possibly!

Hello everyone, I am graduating in December 2024 with my ADN. I intend to take the NCLEX in December or January, and I am beginning an RN-BSN program in January 2025. My goal is to work at Children's Medical Center. I was not eligible for their February 2025 Nurse Residency cohort as I will not have obtained a BSN by that time. I saw that Children's has an ADN apprenticeship program, but I also cannot find very much information about it online. Currently, the Children's website for this program doesn't appear to have been updated since last year. Do any soon-to-be ADN RN grads plan to apply to the apprenticeship program? Hopefully we can get some more info soon and apply ?

I think they are taking around ~50 students. I'm sure they will have an alternate list. I got an 85 composite score on the TEAS (87 reading, 100 math, 79 science, 78 English). I hope it's enough. Not sure how many points I have total

Me too! When do you think we'll find out? I think the application closed in March last year, and they found out in April. I'm hoping that means we will find out in March.

I got into the LVN program too. I think it is a good alternate pathway to getting your RN. The LVN is a one year program, and then Collin has an accelerated one year LVN-RN bridge.

Did anyone apply to Collin's LVN program and ADN program? I attended an informational for the LVN program, and the director said you would not be admitted to the ADN if you didn't get an A in all 3 prerequisites.

Shoot. I wish I could get a point for the micro grade LOL. And same here. I think I will be on the cusp of being accepted. I got an 85% on the TEAS the first time, and am not sure I will be able to score well enough to earn another point from retaking it. I do know they do tie breakers though for the reading and science section. Science was my lowest section at 70%, so I may retake the TEAS too. It can't hurt to try

Same here! Still waiting and it's making me so anxious. I believe the first round of accepted people had until today 04/16 to accept though. I am hopeful we will hear something this coming week!

The application will be opening soon! I am nervous but excited. I was curious if the grade you get for Microbiology is calculated for points? I know you can get 5,4, or 3 points for getting an A,B, or C in A&P. For micro, do you just get a point for having completed the class?

I know they've already sent out lots of acceptances and a few rejections. When do y'all think the next wave of decisions will be?

Awesome! Thanks for letting me know. If I don't get in this semester, I will try for Spring and have more points. If you don't mind sharing, how many points did you have? They did send me the fingerprint thing so I will probably get that done just in case.

For those who were accepted, how long do you have to give them a decision? I am curious when I may hear anything, since I am waitlisted. Congrats again for those who got in! If I do not make it this semester, I definitely plan to apply again!
