Christine, Finding a job in a Spokane hospital is a difficult task! I moved home to Washington State last summer and I have never in my career had such a difficult time finding a job!!! I have thirteen years experience in acute care in addition to one year of TCU experience as well as working in long term care prior to nursing school. I applied for jobs at Sacred Heart...neither Deaconess (can't remember there new name!) or the VA hospital was hiring at the time. All I ever heard from Sacred Heart was the same old form letter stating they had "many applicant's we are considering at this time". When I checked my application status on the employment website it always told me it had been "filed".....circular filed I'll bet. I was told by more than one person that they like to hire young new grad nurses because they can pay them a lot less. I ended up getting a job in a small hospital in an outlying community. Funny thing HR told me when I was hired that my former supervisors had nothing but great things to say about me as a nurse and as a person. They also asked the HR employee to let me know how much I'm missed. I won't EVER APPLY AT SACRED HEART AGAIN! After what I've read on this board it really sounds like they don't appreciate their nurses like they should! They didn't want this ol' girl...:nurse:OK, I've finished ranting...LOL...My advice would be don't move here until you have a job!
