I have the worst possible grades I’d ever heard of. I was in and out of undergrad multiple times and failed out almost every time. I was placed on academic suspension. Then I stupidly made the same mistakes at a community college. I have multiple F’s and my GPA is probably around 1.2.
that was in a southern state about 6 years ago. Fast forward to now, I’m enrolled at a community college in a new state. I did not transfer any of my credits because I wanted a fresh start. Last semester I made a 4.0 and I expect to finish this semester with a 3.6. Next semester I am applying to a BSN transfer program. My community college is partnered with a university for the BSN program
I was originally told by my program director at cc that only my pre requisite GPA would be considered. I emailed another director at the partnered university and was told they consider the pre req GPA AND the cumulative GPA from every course attempted no matter how old it is.
I am truly screwed. There is no chance I would get in ANYWHERE with my past grades. Every program in the area requires you submit every transcript.
I feel like my only option is to try to declare academic amnesty at my old schools. If approved, it is essentially a clean slate. The old grades will still appear on my transcript but they state that it will not my considered for my future GPA and it is noted that amnesty was declared.
The problem is that I don’t even live in that state anymore. Even if I’m approved for amnesty, does that even transfer to my new school? The grades will still appear on my transcript, but if it says Amnesty on it would the new school even consider that or would they still calculate my cumulative GPA from my transcript?
I’m so lost. I thought this was my fresh start. I feel hopeless that my dream of becoming a nurse is crushed before it could even begin. Any advice and alternative routes are appreciated.
