Giving meds in clinicals
I teach med/surg clinicals to LPN students who have had clinical at usually a nursing home prior to coming to me. I do have them pass meds, but by this time they have had pharm. I don't think meds should be passed prior to having that class. I alternate who passes meds, having half the group pass meds one day, then the second half passing the second day. Hope this helps.:balloons:

Clinical Evaluation Tools
Thank you for the evaluation tool. I was wondering if you have any information on how to write effective ancedotal notes? Thanks you.

clinical experience for nurses and new ESRD regulations
In an attempt to learn more about dialysis, I chose to read this discussion. This has all been very entertaining, reading your comments back and forth to each other. I just have a couple of things to add. Imperial: I would suggest that if you have questions regarding the care that was given to a family member that you ask that nurse or physician that was caring for the patient. I am a firm believer of being a patient advocate, but I also believe in giving nurses the respect we deserve. And RRN, your comments were a little harsh, even though you were aware of why the questions were being asked. Maybe you have been working in the medical field too long. lol. Take Care. Di

Tips for Making Your Clinical Day Better
Thank you for the good suggestions. I used to keep track of the students on my clipboard, but as we got busy through the evening, I wouldn't have time to write each thought down. As an Instructor, we have weekly mini-evaluations of the students. Thanks again.

Tips for Making Your Clinical Day Better
Does anyone have any resources for keeping track of student experiences during clinical. I have been teaching clinicals for about 5 years, took a year off and just started again. I just remember at the end of the clinical evening, it was hard to remember who had done what. The other question I have is does anyone have some expamples of ancedotal notes that are written on student evaluations. It is sometimes hard to come up with good and constructive comments. Thank you.
