  1. Hi, I am a new nurse with no CNA/PCT work background (other than clinical rotations). Aside from my registered nurse credential, I am also credentialed in health information technology with my associates degree. I was working as a medical biller and coder while going to school for my nursing degree. I was a trainer at my previous jobs. Because of the higher pay, I chose to continue working a medical biller and coder. I wanted to get some experience working more with patients as a CNA/PCT, but the pay was not enough to cover my expenses. Do you think there is a room for me to negotiate for a higher nursing salary? I am aware they are unrelated because one is administrative/data driven and the other one is clinical driven. Although, I believe both credentials can be complementary in some way. What do you think? Thank you!
  2. Hi! I attended their session. Were you able to figure it out? Below screenshots are from the PowerPoint presentation. This is only for AAS RN program, though.
  3. I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you still have a spot for Spring. I emailed the registrar's office before when my transcript was sent via email from my CPS high school. I have heard that Malcolm X is bad at filing paperwork.
  4. Try checking tomorrow. I hope you'll get in! I submitted my application exactly on the day when they opened the program for Spring 2021. I completed all the requirements 2 months after I applied.
  5. Hi, I have completed my pre-reqs. Did you check your student portal? Cristina1990 is still taking the pre-reqs but still got accepted into the program.
  6. Congrats, everyone! Cheers! ? ???‍♀️?????‍♂️ Cristina1990 ??? Juicyjulie ??? FutureHelper ??? 2Serve ??? IrinaSave ??? Driathompson ?? And to other future nurses ????
  7. OMG thank you so much for the update! I got in as well for both RN and LPN. Of course, I accepted the RN. LOL! Congrats to us all!
  8. No updates as of today. ?
  9. Someone else's from previous semester.
  10. I got it on Nov 19th.
  11. The acceptance letter is gonna look like this (sorry I had to obliterate some info):
  12. Oh, right! I have the session on the 10th December. Although, I asked --------------------- about applying both LPN and RN at the same time. Her response was so vague that I thought it wasn't worth to be posted here for you guys. But if you are curious, this is her response: "We are working on updating all information. Please note the Nursing Committee is just starting to review the applications. Your portal will be updated before the deadline set by the Nursing Committee for applicant approvals." ?? I will ask her about the tuition cost, how are the clinicals going to be, etc. on the 10th. Let me know if you guys have any questions so I can ask her via zoom. No more vague or copy-and-paste answers. LOL
  13. BCBS through employer
  14. No updates as of today. LOL. Medical doc shows incomplete for the ADN. Background check and medical doc also show incomplete for PN.
  15. Guys, I also applied for LPN on 11/14 (deadline) just in case I don't get in for ADN. They just updated my status from "applied" to "in progress" LOL they are currently working on our accounts
  16. Mine is in progress as well.
  17. Guys, it's 12:12 AM. I keep checking my portal and we're only 2 business days after deadline. This waiting game is seriously giving me insomnia. LOL!
  18. I checked my portal like 30x today. My medical doc still shows incomplete.
  19. You're welcome! I try to help as much as I can. I hate the feeling of anxiety. Will do! Thanks!
  20. A&P: I did at another community college but Malcolm X has honored them. They have to be within 10 yrs. Chem, Math, and Microbio: I did them at Malcolm X
  21. ? Your CNA must be active. To check the status, go to https://hcwrpub.dph.illinois.gov/Search.aspx (I used to work at a CNA school in the admissions dep't. This is the website we used to know if our students passed) ? It doesn't matter if you have a degree. You must submit your transcripts because IDPH requires Malcolm x to have one on file. There are no additional admission points for having a degree since you are applying at a community college. (I think Malcolm X wants to have an equal opportunity for all students, which I really like even though I have a degree.) More info coming soon...
  22. What I learned from the previous session that I attended for ADN: ?60% of admission points are based on your ATI score ?We might get the results a week or 2 after the deadline. ?We will get an email or invitation if accepted into the program. Please note you have to reply and confirm that you are accepting it. There is a deadline for that. ?Malcolm X can only accommodate 100-110 students for Spring.
