  1. Hello! Congratulations! I would get the access codes if you can but they are not required, at least for my classes. They are good for 2 years though and are a good study tool. Maybe try to share a code with a friend two? That way it will keep the costs down? You can find a PDF version of the Taylor textbook for free pretty easily, if you don’t mind reading off a tablet or your computer. But I’m not sure if the books are going to stay the same for your cohort? You can definitely wait to purchase them until you start! During the 1st 6 weeks you only use Taylor textbook so that can help you spread out some costs as well.
  2. I got into COC. They only give 1 pt for experience and 1pt for CNA. 1pt for BA/BS. 0 pts for AA. They heavily weigh GPA and TEAS. Moorpark gives 10pts for BA/BS. 8pts for AA degree OR LVN/MA/RT etc. 5 pts for CNA. 2.5 for volunteering. I know of 4 previous classmates that got accepted to their program with no previous experience. PCC is another school to look into that is more focused on GPA and TEAS. They give 30pts for completing non-prereq GEs. Only 2pts for CNA, 5pts for LVN/MA/RT etc. Every school lists their mutli-criteria selection on their site. Sometimes you just have to search a little to find them.
  3. Every school counts points differently so I would run the numbers to see if it makes sense for the program you want to apply to! I didn't have any volunteer or healthcare experience and I had a repeat in English from 10 years ago and I got in to a program but again those points vary depending on the programs. Some schools only give you 2 points for CNA where other schools give 10. For GCC, they do random selection for everyone who meets the minimum requirements, so you can't really make yourself more competitive which sucks. But it's also good because you don't have to have a 4.0 to get in. Pros and cons. Don't give up!
  4. Same! I was rejected but also already accepted to my first choice program. Congrats to those who get accepted today!
  5. ayyy you're right! I was wrong. I thought it was the 30th! My bad! I didn't end up applying because I got an acceptance at the end of October.
  6. I also got rejected - 1200 applicants is wild though! Good luck to everyone! Pasadena is accepting applications until November 30th for Spring. Keep applying! You got this!
  7. Awww don't give up!! Pasadena just opened their applications for Spring 2021! Keep applying! ❤️
  8. AHH so I just re-read my application email and I did not include my VCCD transcript with my application. Since the application was online this year - I didn't even think to include them in the email but it is stated clearly on the application that they need the transcript attached. I'm annoyed at my past-self haha hope you get some clarity Fabian!
  9. Just posting here for future applicants looking for information - I was finally emailed today that my application was not accepted because it was incomplete ? but doesn't state what was missing. Really annoying. I already got accepted another program but I do think it is pretty lame they don't notify the student earlier that their application was not accepted. Other schools will notify you if a transcript is missing, for example, and give you a certain period of time to appeal the error. Just a warning to future applicants!
  10. Just got my acceptance letter ? check your emails
  11. In past cycles, they called over the period of a few days. They will also continue to make calls after orientation and registration date pass and people get dropped. Just hoping for an alternate call tbh. I had 87.5 pts, so I assume it must be extra competitive this year.
  12. Congrats! Two of my friends were alternates for Fall 2020 and they both got in! Stay positive.
  13. They started calling this morning! Some classmates got accepted. Fingers crossed we get in.
