  1. I doubled up each 8 week semester. It is doable, for sure. I had a new born when I started, a full-time job, and a 9th grader in marching band. Did I cry? yes...Did I want to give up? yes...but I made it! You will make it too. Do not hesitate to ask the instructors for clarification. Some professor like papers and assignments done in specific ways. If there are discrepancies, let them know! They will work with you. Best of luck!!
  2. Excelsior does take other prerequisite classes. I am not sure about nursing classes. All of the course work is online with virtual simulation later on in the course. Many of the classes have proctored tests. It took me 18 months with all of my prerequisites to complete the course. At the end of the program you will have to pay out of pocket to travel to your clinical destination. The biggest headaches I had were cost of books- $3000, travel- $3000, and getting all of my documents approved in time to make the cut for clinical courses. Good luck!
  3. Hey my nursing brethren. I'm in school full-time so I pick up PRN and agency at facilities around the DFW metroplex. Because the agency was sending me to some shady places I've been leaning more towards my PRN job. I love it. I love the staff, I love the work, and I love the ease of the facility. What I don't like is that my relief consistently comes to work 30 to 45 minutes late. I mentioned to the scheduler that I will be picking up less shifts because of this constant tardiness. They have since ghosted me. I've seen a lot of toxic cultures in nursing facilities, and this is not the worst. But it still shouldn't be allowed. Any thoughts?
  4. Hi fellow healthcare heros :D. I am aiming to complete my ADN bridge Dec 2022 and I'm getting nervous. As a TX resident, I may take the NCLEX-RN and once I pass, obtain a provisional RN license. I understand that the BON requires me to complete 500 hours under a preceptor. There is not much information about this online and was wondering if anyone has experience with this particular scenario. If you have any knowledge about this process, I would greatly appreciate it.
