  1. If I had to guess, she was probably old enough to be my mother? (I’m 24) maybe a little younger. She has children of her own, and shared with me that she still feels like her life is restricted due to paying her loans. Our conversation really made me rethink both Yale and NP school in general.
  2. Wow really?! I didn’t even consider Columbia when applying... maybe I should next time! My YSN interviewer even said she felt Yale was really expensive and that people should do what is most affordable, because her own loans are so restrictive on her life STILL... looks like you have a good option there
  3. Heyyyyy there. Hate to chime in because I was ~not accepted~ but I want to ask about the nurse corps, thing. Because I was under the impression, based on a line in their rules, that this program (at least the GEPN year) does NOT qualify, because one does not have their RN at that point. I would love love love to be wrong, and I thought since it got brought up now would be a good time to share, and have someone sus it out and show me I misread... ya know, for future application cycle plans ?
  4. Offered a position on the wait list for NMWHNP good luck to y’all ?
  5. I never got an email when interviews were released, so I’m gunna need one of you who actually a get the email tomorrow to post on here for me?? Good luck, everyone. I hope each and every person gets the news that is truly best for them!
  6. Hi All... it is truly the final countdown (cue the music). I’m wishing everyone the best. I am having some odd feelings, I can’t imagine if anyone relates or not but I want to get it out to people who at least may understand where I’m coming from. I’m actually nervous to hear back. I am optimistic, but I think either way, my life will change in a hectic way... the thought of: if I get in, I have to find a way to pay for it, move across the country away from my family, and go back to school after being out for awhile.... that’s a lot! I keep telling my friends and family that I could wait another 6 months to hear back, because I’m so nervous, mostly about paying for it. Y’all probably think I’m a bit crazy for feeling that way but hey, change is scary, and I am definitely more scared than anything else! ?
  7. I sent one the next day, and did NOT receive a response.
  8. Yesss agreed! and on a similar note, but a tangent none the less... I pulled a tarot card after my interview today (suspend your judgement, yall??) and got Justice. Which, to me, means that whats done is done, and what’s meant for you will come to you, there’s nothing else to do about it at this point. So if that resonates with anyone else, I hope it brings you comfort. But we will all know, good or bad, soon. And we will all make our way to becoming the people (nurse practitioners!) we want, somehow. No sense stressing whats out of our control (to those done with interviews).
  9. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t there CNM, WHNP, and the combined specialty program? So that might alter the numbers were throwing around too, since it looks like some folks may have lumped it all together. I dunno though ?
  10. I got the same info, but she went further and told me (15 mins ago) that from there they pick about 15 for each specialty. So, ~25% admitted? Also- not feeling super confident after my interview (from my own behavior, not anything she said.) getting emotional support Mexican food as I type this ??
  11. Hi folks! Does anyone know, regarding the FAFSA, if we are asked to include our parents information? I got to that point in the application, and it says we are independent (obviously) but some medical/nursing programs may require parent’s info any... not sure how to move on and kinda concerned I won’t be able to get ahold of anyone in the FinAid office before the priority deadline
  12. I have it written down that Jana previously said that it would be “early February” when discussing it during the informational session held earlier in the process.
  13. I was able to schedule mine, and received a confirmation email after... hope they get it sorted quickly for y’all!
  14. Woohoo! Congrats everyone! I got an interview for NM/WHNP! Happy holidays all, good luck too.
  15. Y’all... I’m sending good vibes your way! I hope no one else is freaking out quite as much as I am today. We got this. Everything will work out the way it needs to!!
  16. Such a hectic wait... what are folks doing to prepare/keep themselves busy? Hope you’re all doing well!
  17. IDK if this would be helpful, but maybe look for local subleases! I found one that goes until late July so I will either be able to move more easily, or have plenty of time to find a new place if I don’t get in.
  18. Ahhh, okay! Thank you. I worry because I do have some lower sciences grades on my transcript, which will be discussed as they are more closely related to outside factors than my actual ability, so maybe I should retake? To hopefully show a little more related aptitude. I also took the first GRE without any sort of studying, because I was severely ill before, and just wanted to make the most of the already scheduled test (turn it into a diagnostic of sorts). I have emailed Jana, but I appreciate each and every comment you all are leaving! You all are ROCKSTARS!
  19. Would grades in science and maths qualify in that manner? For example- A- in general topic Chemistry, B in statistics, and more a->c grades in similar courses? Is that what you had in mind or is there another sort of material you were thinking?
  20. Hi All, I am curious if anyone has any knowledge in desirable GRE scores as I am deciding if I want to retake (I already have permission to do so this late). I originally scored a 308... 158 V, 150 Q, and a 4.5 in writing. I took this as a diagnostic without any sort of prep, so I feel like it could maybe improve a bit, but money is tight and I’d like to avoid taking it if it isn’t super helpful. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks yall, good luck to other applicants!
