  1. @stephaileen @ekh10293 Thank you both so much for the replies!! This is super helpful information! I will definitely get started on the supplemental so that I have plenty of time to revise. Did you both take the NCLEX in CO or did you guys take the NCLEX in your home states and then just transfer your license to CO? I'm set on moving to CO when I graduate so I was thinking about just trying to take the NCLEX there.
  2. Congrats!! I'm looking to apply to this program after I'm done with my ABSN program in December. I'm wondering if you guys could shed some light on what your previous experience was. Did you have previous hospital experience and did you have previous pediatric experience? I am just wondering what they look for on paper for candidates to get an interview. So excited for you! Could you share some of your previous experience with me? I really would love to get an interview for this program and want to know what kind of experience they are looking for.
  3. Hi! I was wondering if you guys could share a bit more about your application and experience in peds. What kind of peds or children's experiences did you have before applying? What was your GPA? What do you think they looked for in your application? Thank you!
  4. Hi! Late congrats on the acceptances to the program! I was wondering if you guys could share a bit more about your application and experience in peds. What kind of peds or children's experiences did you have before applying? What was your GPA? What do you think they looked for in the application? Thank you!
  5. How has your clinical schedule been? Does it seem organized? I had heard that it changed from the 2 weeks after each semester (the way we learned it would be during the info session)...is this true? Are students placed in different hospitals/clinics for each shift or the same one?
  6. I was concerned with that too. I asked in the information session and she said that a lot of students land jobs through connections they make during their clinical rotations. The clinical rotations are with hospitals they partner with. Among them were Brigham and MGH and I think Beth Israel too. There are some clinical locations in suburbs too though, like South Shore Hospital/Clinic.
  7. I was accepted. I had a 3.5 undergrad GPA and 3.9 prereq GPA. I think the essay and recommendation letters were really important in this application especially because the TEAS was not required. One thing that I did that I think also helped was took accelerated Summer courses at Umass Boston this Summer (4 of my prereqs). I did well in them so I was hoping this would convey to admissions that I could do well in accelerated science courses at umass. One of my recommendation letters came from one of those professors. I tried to really connect with her on a personal level throughout the class, reaching out to her twice during the 7 weeks term to set up a zoom call to get to know each other. My other recommendation letter came from a Child Life Coordinator at MGH in the pediatric unit where I volunteered. I didn't think this letter would be very strong because I did not know her well, but I wanted the admissions committee to know the level of exposure that I had to nursing while I was there. As for the essay, I focused on student objectives that they included in their information session slides and just talked about how professional nurses carry those qualities (image attached). I tried to explain some personal experiences in short too, but really tried to focus on the topic of what is a professional nurse. I hope this is helpful to anyone applying or reapplying in the future.
  8. I was accepted! I'm so sorry to those who were not. As someone else mentioned, the world needs more caring nurses so do not give up! To those heading to MGH's program - I have heard it is an excellent program and that you will basically be guaranteed a job at MGH, which is incredible experience!
  9. That's a good questions..I'm actually not sure. I just assumed we could. I should ask that. Hopefully we get in for Spring!
  10. @Future.Derm.NP I'm so sorry to hear about your rejection! I would reach out to ---------------------- at UMB to see if that course will be accepted there to be sure. My plan was to apply to UMB for Summer 2021 if I don't get accepted for Spring. This would only set me back a semester. I am just planning to try to improve my essay and recommendation letters if needed. You could also look at UMASS Amherst or other UMASS branches.
  11. Same! I totally agree with you guys. I looked at some DNP programs too, but with the cost of the private school programs in Boston it seemed like it made more sense to do the bachelors at UMB first (fingers crossed!) and then pursue a masters while working as a nurse, but I totally get wanting to get all the schooling over with at once. Since I am not in a rush, I have debated just applying to UMB's program again for the Summer 2021 class if I don't get in for Spring. I hope they will be open to giving application feedback if I don't get in. I don't even want to think about that yet though...hopefully we all get in! So nervous!
  12. I was considering applying to MGH, but had the same thoughts with the financial reasons. I may apply to MGH if I don't get into UMB, but UMB is the only school I'm applying to for now. My overall GPA is a 3.5 and my prereq GPA is a 3.9. I know some people who recently graduated from the program at UMB and are kind of struggling to find jobs right now. They have taken CNA positions in the meantime and I've heard with MGH's program it basically guarantees you a job at MGH. Still not sure that is worth double the cost in tuition, but worth considering.
  13. --------------------a told me the same thing yesterday. I had a missing transcript that I wasn't sure would arrive today and she said that they are accepting materials until 10/15. I think some applicants are having trouble mailing/sending transcripts due to COVID delays. I know that was the case for me. I tried to send all of my transcripts in a packet at the beginning of September, but they never arrived at the Admissions Processing Center. So, I resorted to e-transcripts this past weekend, but one of my schools doesn't offer e-transcripts and employees aren't in the office at the school so it has been tricky to get the last transcript there. Anyways, seems like others are having similar mailing issues. It's really nice of them to extend the date..but I hope it doesn't effect my acceptance that I had a 'late' item...
  14. Hi guys! Just submitted my application this past weekend. I'm super excited! Hoping for the best for everyone! Good luck!! I hope we all get in!
