  1. Hey everyone! Hope you're all doing well and keeping yourselves sane from checking your email every 2 minutes for an update from NYU. Just finished my first sequence (semester) at NYU and I thought I'd hop on here to see if students are frantically posting looking for updates like I did when I applied. Everyone needs to take a second and calm down, I drove myself insane looking on Albert/ my email for any updates or changes to my checklist. I'm not sure why they take so long to release decisions. Also for those who applied for the priority deadline, that means nothing. Some people in my cohort applied before the priority deadline and got decisions after those that applied for regular decisions. Not sure why they have priority if they're not gonna give those applications priority. Anyways, if anyone has questions or anything I'd be more than happy to answer! ?
  2. Honestly the wait time isn't that bad for NYU. I applied to Columbia and they made me wait 4 1/2 months for a decision, and they were even worse about communication and giving us a timeframe.
  3. Usually (from my experience) and also from reading prior years posts, when you click the view application and a white screen pops up, it typically means that a decision is coming soon. Thats how it was for me on the day I received my acceptance.
  4. Don't get frustrated! you definitely have a chance of getting in! I graduate next week from my undergrad. I had a 3.61 GPA and I didn't have any medical experience at all. I have management experience which isn't relevant at all. They're known for accepting underdogs! There was a girl in my boyfriends cohort who was dismissed from her nursing program at another school and she still got into NYU on her first time applying. Don't give up or get frustrated, you might see posts of people putting their stats saying they have a 4.0 GPA and A's in all pre-req grades and they have over 2000 shadowing hours and they work as a CNA and this and that. I used to get extremely frustrated reading that and comparing it to myself, but you really don't know what the admission committee really wants. Good luck and positive vibes!!
  5. Thankkk you! No they didn't reach out to me. They ask to submit final transcripts once all the in progress classes are complete.
  6. I just checked my portal and I GOT IN!! It was a very long and hard waiting period (especially since I got denied from Columbia). Just wanted to share my stats just to let everyone know you don't have to have perfect grades and medical experience. My Major: Marketing My overall GPA was a 3.61 Pre-Req Grades: A&P1- A Micro-(in Progress) A&P2- (In Progress) Developmental Psych- A Nutrition- A- Chemistry- B+ Business Statistics- B I have absolutely 0 medical experience, I have never shadowed or volunteered. I do however have 7 years of management experience and I was decently involved in school. You don't have to have straight A's and a 4.0 and medical experience to get in! My boyfriend recently graduated from this program and his friends also had similar stats to mine. Sending positive vibes out for everyone. GOOD LUCK!
  7. Hey Everyone! I'm graduating in May of 2021 with a degree in Marketing and I'm applying for the Fall 2021 semester. My boyfriend is currently a 4th sequence ABSN student at NYU and he'd going to be done in December. From his stats and his friend's stats that got in they really do look at everything holistically. He has a friend who had absolutely 0% healthcare experience and had never even set foot in a hospital. Also, his friend's prereq GPA's and cumulative GPA's weren't too high either, they were between a 3.2-3.5. He, however, had tons and tons of shadowing experience and he also had a very high cumulative GPA (3.8 I think) and his prereq GPA was around 3.7. I'm kind of nervous because I don't have any medical experience (because I decided I wanted to pursue nursing senior year of college). My Stats are as follows so far: Cumulative GPA: 3.4 Statistics: Winter 2020 Developmental Psychology: A Nutrition: A- Chemistry w/ Lab: B+ Anatomy and Physiology 1: (Currently taking) (Hopefully an A or A-) Anatomy and Physiology 2: (Spring 2021) Microbiology: (Spring 2021) Is it normal to be nervous and stressed already for this application LOL? I just enjoy how the school looks at your application as a whole and they accept a decent amount of students a semester in comparison to other schools. My boyfriend's class size for his particular sequence of students is 215, which is great because it makes it a bit less competitive.
