When you start the NCLEX application process in school, if you do end up taking it in CA, you'll have to figure it out on your own bc its different than Iowa. Its pretty straightforward on the CA BON website. if you need to get ahold of the board, just keep trying everyday. Eventually you can talk to someone. if your stuff is processing longer than it should, talk to someone at the board bc thats the only way things will move forward. the website isn't always clear if you are missing something.

So far its been a great experience. The faculty are so helpful and there are tutors that can help as well. They would do one-on-one meeting with you every week if you needed it. There is a lot of information and its all stuff you really have to understand because we are going to be taking care of patients so for me it just makes it that more important for me to really understand the material. so far I highly recommend it and I honestly am grateful to be able to go to nursing school because CA schools can expensive and super impacted.

Yes I do plan on going back to CA. I don't know anyone personally going through it and its hard to get information from people in the semesters before me because we aren't going to in class so I only know people in my class. I know there are a lot of people from California in this program who go back and I haven't heard of anyone having difficulty.

I am from CA as well and I did look into this a lot before I came to Iowa. Im not sure if they still are but the CA BON was very difficult to get ahold of maybe because of COVID. I contacted Mercy before coming and they said there are several people from CA currently who are going through the process to be licensed in CA. MCHS is accredited. If you have specific questions I would contact Mercy or even try contacting the CA BON.

No we are not doing in the classroom right now. Everything is online and through video calls. We are allowed to practice some skills on campus in the lab but there is a small capacity, so I haven't spent a lot of time on campus. We are still doing clinicals in hospitals as well. I'm not sure if you are from Iowa but if you aren't the snow is a lot to get used to.

Hi! Its a very difficult program but like everyone has told me before, it's doable. There is a lot of information in a short period of time. It's sort of like when you take a Summer class everything is super quick. But you are taking a few Summer classes at a time. The professors are great and there are a lot of resources available to use also. There isn't a whole lot of preparation you can do for it before but be ready to work when you start and you be okay.

Hey Negin, I was curious to know where you got this information. I’m also trying to get information about this school and CA licensure. I contacted MCHS and was told that several people currently in the program are applying for CA licensure and they recently were approved. I’m still trying to get in contact with CA BON as well to confirm. I appreciate your feedback!
