  1. Thank you!! I went and looked for hospital systems in the area that don't do nurse residency programs (like UT Houston and Texas Oncology) and stalked their pages for RN I positions. This one was listed as an RN I/II/III spot. So under experience it pretty much said no experience required, but your starting title/salary would be based off of the amount of experience you had! UTHealth Houston still has a few positions like this posted (I believe they are all for outpatient clinics as well) if you want to check them out!
  2. Didn't get a residency spot this time around - BUT I did just get a job offer for an amazing RN I position with UTHealth Houston. It is at their Woman's Clinic as their Gyn/Onc RN. M-F, 8-5. No weekends, no holidays, and it is a salaried position with a great starting salary! Which means, even when the office is closed (like they are the week between Christmas and new years) I still get paid for that time. PLUS I have the option to work from home Thursdays and Fridays since they don't see Oncology patients on those days so I would only be working phone triage which I can do remotely. My last clinic saw on average 200 patients a day and you got sat 4-5 patients at a time and it was so stressful. This clinic only sees 3-10 patients a day and you only get sat 1 patient at a time since they are fully staffed (they have 3 infusion chairs, and I would be the 3rd nurse hired). All of this is to say, if you didn't get a spot in a residency, there is still hope! Especially if you have even just a little experience.
  3. This is very true! If you are open to moving, there are residency programs I applied to in NC and PA that I've gotten offers for in oncology and the OR! For both of those places, they actually accept New Grads on a rolling basis as well, so you don't have to worry about the deadlines for applications or waiting for the next cohort to open if you don't get a job right away. It seems like Houston is just really tough when it comes to New Grad RN jobs in particular, but there is a lot of opportunity out there!
  4. Just a reminder for those who have not found a job yet (especially if you have some experience, even just a couple of months): UT Health Houston, who does not seem to have a residency program, does offer RN I positions that require zero to very minimal experience. They particularly like to hire these positions into Clinic roles, so if you don't want to work bedside and prefer Outpatient with normal M-F 8-5 hours, you should check out their career page!
  5. It depends on the program. Some are 6 and some are 12. That's the problem I got myself stuck into! I have 6 months of experience which disqualified me from any of Houston Methodists or HCA residencies. So it does limit your residency programs you can apply to. HOWEVER I have been able to interview for RN I and some RN II positions because some requires only 6 months of experience so it does open some more opportunities in that way. It's a give and take!
  6. That makes sense since that is the only question I've said no to. That stinks!
  7. No assessment that I know of! I am just as confused unfortunately
  8. I don't think so! Because I am also getting rejected right away because of the prescreening questions and I do have my TX RN
  9. I'm sorry I didn't respond to the last time this was asked! I just looked again, and although some of them are still visible on the map, they have now been labeled as "no longer active" when you click the link. This is all so confusing! BUT if you are able/willing to move to the DFW area, they did just reopen 5 of their campuses there that still have spots they need to fill!
  10. My MD Anderson application has just been stuck on "recruiter review" but I haven't heard anything from them.
  11. I see that HCA reposted some of the residencies in the Houston area. Do you guys plan on reapplying to them all, or just waiting to see what happens with the ones you already submitted?
  12. Yeah I just got it too! I also think they are just going to fix everything and start over. I didn't even apply to the hospital that they are saying in the email haha
  13. Just wanted to provide another opportunity for those still looking for jobs - if you are interested in working outpatient (and not having to do bedside, which same haha) there are opportunities to become a Dialysis Nurse in Houston! If you have some experience (like me) there are dialysis clinics that offer Outpatient RN I positions for RNs with 6-9 months of any RN experience (they would provide all of the training to specialize in dialysis). I applied to a couple of positions two days ago when I saw them and already have 2 interviews lined up. and if you are a new grad, I know that at least Fresenius Kidney Care (one of the largest Dialysis Clinics in the nation) has a New Grad Residency and I think their applications for Houston might still be open!
  14. Honestly I think they are a bit of a mess right now haha I'm gonna guess they might have to scrap the whole think and start from fresh next week or something
  15. And to all those worried - HCA automatically changes your applications to "Not Hired or Withdrawn" when they start reviewing the applications because of how their system is set up! Sometimes the campuses will send out this email below in reference to it (I got this one from a Dallas campus when mine got switched to "Not Hired or Withdrawn) "Your profile is being moved from the position you originally applied to and attached to a like position based on a system requirement. You are still under consideration. A member of our Talent Acquisition Team is processing your application. You do not need to take any further action at this time. Thank you for your interest in HCA Healthcare!”
  16. https://css-hcahealthcare-prd.tam.inforcloudsuite.com/hcm/Jobs/home?csk.JobBoard=EXTERNAL&csk.HROrganization=1 You should be able to use this link!
  17. From what I'm seeing, they just specify "6 months of nursing experience" so I would personally think as long as you are practicing in any capacity with an RN license it counts. The couple I applied to closed already it seems, but if you are willing to move to Dallas, UT Southwestern is opening their applications on December 9th and only require 6 months!
  18. If there is anyone else in here like me who has some experience already (6 months), you may have the option to do an RN Fellowship rather than a Residency, just so you know! Some Fellowships out there require at least a year of experience, but there are some that only require 6 months. Just something else to look into if you need it!
  19. Has anyone gotten any updates on what is happening with the HCA situation?
  20. That would be my guess! Because they really weren't up for very long. I know they had their Dallas residencies open to apply for over a month before taking them down
  21. Yeah I think the whole thing is messed up. I applied to North Cypress, Texas Women's, and Medical Center and mine is only showing two applications both to Houston and the job postings also don't exist anymore
  22. Hopefully if you are applying for the HCA residency something good will happen for you this time around!
  23. Whenever they sent you that email, did they also change the status of your application on the portal?
  24. I haven't worked for them yet but they have extended 3 job offers now. I previously worked for UNC Oncology up in North Carolina. But Texas Oncology is actually the group that handled my care when I was going through cancer treatment a few years ago and they are absolutely amazing!
  25. For those that are still looking for a job - if you are interested in needle skills and/or outpatient work, there are a lot of dialysis clinics in Houston that have New Graduate RN programs that are still open that you can apply to!
