  1. I would suggest that you also consider Grant in Columbus as well. They are also a level I trauma center. They are part of Ohio Health. While you do have to shuttle from a remote parking lot about 5 blocks away, there is no charge for parking.
  2. You may find this article interesting. https://allnurses.com/forums/f300/comparison-bsn-versus-adn-faculty-role-255197.html I obtained my BSN in August of this year. Here were some of my compelling reasons I chose the BSN vs. the ADN. First, there are hospitals which hire exclusively Basin's. I did not want to limit my employment opportunities. Second, I did not want to limit my career opportunities. You typically need a BSN to manage. Third, life gets more complicated with time. I just wanted to get the BSN finished before life got in the way. Fourth, the ADN programs I looked at had waiting lists. On average, it was going to take a year before I could even start.I graduated from the University of Akron. I loved the program and highly recommend it. Kent State also offers a wonderful program. Regardless the path you chose, nursing will reward you! Best of luck in your educational path.
  3. I am a new grad as well, I just started my first nursing job with Ohio Health in Columbus Ohio. Ohio Health has several hospitals in the Columbus area and is opening a new hospital in Dublin Ohio (NW Columbus suburb). I am very pleased with the amount of training that I am being provided. I am in their internship program which includes classroom study once a week in addition to the 12 week of preceptorship. It may be worth your time to check out the website and see if anything interests you. http://ohiohealth.com/bodytop.cfm?id=18 Good luck with your search.
  4. You are very welcome! Please don't let me scare you away...there are great places to live (and work) in Columbus!
  5. The Columbus Dispatch had an article in today's paper discussing crime rates in the Columbus metropolitan area. Here's the link: http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/local_news/stories/2007/09/30/FBI_stats.ART_ART_09-30-07_A1_KH826LV.html?sid=101 Generally speaking, the majority of the areas outside of I-270 have lower crime rates. There are a couple of areas within I-270 which are exceptions to that, but houses prices are very expensive in these areas. Like most areas of the country, the real estate market in the Columbus area is rather depressed. Which is good and bad when you are looking to buy. Good because housing prices are down, bad because you don't know when they are going to stop going down. You may want to consider renting for that reason. We've relocated several times. Even though we don't have children, I alway research the ratings of the local schools systems to determine where I chose to live. I find that a community that is willing to invest in its schools are generally communities which I want to live in. Taxes may be a bit more expensive, but it pays off in property value and city services. Good luck with your search. :wink2:
