CSULB doesn't have a ABSN program, but there is a trimester program and a semester program. Both are 5 semesters long with trimester program students having no summers, so we graduate faster. It started today too! I just finished my 2 classes but I feel really overwhelmed. Good luck to you peeps at MSMU! If you got the interview, you have a super good chance of getting in!

Congratulations and good luck to you all. I didn't get invited for the interview but I'll be starting CSULB's BSN. I'll graduate in 08/2022, so it'll be around the same time as you guys graduate.

@BREN_1599 @baka_ichigo I'm in trimester. If you don't want to wait and want to see a copy of the groups and schedule for trimester, PM me. Most likely, you'll be added to the group I'm in because we only have 7 people RN, whereas other groups have 8 or 9 people already. And make sure you guys get in the facebook group we have.

@anndreaa8 You can have up to 2 pre-requisites in progress. Keep in mind that MSMU ABSN program also has 3 philosophy requirements (2 philo/1reli or 2 reli/1philo) that most people have not taken. Sciences just need to be IP. I had 4 non-sciences in progress and was not given an interview due to having too many courses in progress. When you attend the information session, they soft "recommend" having at most 2 pre-requisites, but if there's a lot of applicants, it's basically a hard must have.

@somerdale @Rnhopeful23 Congratulations to both of you! I took most of my prerequisites at Compton and El Camino and from the NCLEX pass rates, both are fairly good programs. Can I ask what raw cumulative TEAS score you guys got? I'm asking to find out what the cut off score is.

Nah, unless you are a military veteran, you'll be given an even chance just like the CSULB pre-nursing students. Quota is just a number that the BSN program designates to achieve the variability of the class they want. From a pure numbers perspective, it doesn't matter because the average applicant from the past 4 applicant seasons has a near 4.0 and a 90 reading/90 composite raw TEAS score, with sample size of around 250 to 800 students. A 90 reading/90 composite TEAS score puts the applicant at the 99 percentile for students taking the test. Anything lower than a 4.0 means you'll have to knock the TEAS score out of the water. I saw a user on last application season claim they got in with lower than 80% on the TEAS, but they had military experience, which is a +1 point. So in theory, if you have military service, you're almost guaranteed in with a much less competitive academic/test score. That's why I believe there may be a quota to cap that military number. But that is only my guess, only CSULB admissions knows and I'm not sure if they would even share it. CSU Bakersfield is more blunt with this, they just say they have 2 seats reserved for military members and they must have a minimum of 75% on the TEAS and 3.0 GPA. CSU Sacramento and many other programs also award points for military service or use it as a tie breaker. My best advice for transfers is to not worry too much about the competition because unless you have military experience, you need to maintain a 4.0 GPA and score at the 99 percentile for TEAS just to be the average applicant. IF they use quota, it would only be used to restrict the number of military members.

@Opera2Nursing I found the handbook for this fall cohort online and shared it in the facebook group. I'm actually more nervous about the health insurance and malpractice insurance since I'm from overseas and I don't have either of those insurance. Definitely worth a quick glance, a few nuggets here and there.

2nd degree applicants don't need SOAR. That's like a introduction to college life for transfer students. From the SOAR Sign-Up link, this is what I get "SOAR is Not Required The SOAR program is required only for new undergraduate freshmen and transfer students. You are not required to sign up for SOAR. (Message #107)"

I'm a second bach, but mine says provisional admission instead. I'm guessing it is that you need to finish the courses you are currently taking. But let others chime in first. I'm taking some classes right now (bio 101, bio102, ochem1, genetics, and ochem/biochem, which are not required) but I have completed the golden four and all of the nursing prerequisites. The two are basically the same thing, just keep the ship steady and see you at the finish line!

@Opera2Nursing I don't think being 2nd degree bach will necessarily bump us down. If anything, it'll be quota based, like... 50% of seats are reserved for CSULB pre-nursing students. And then the a certain percentage for non traditional and a few seats for the military people (military service members get +1 point so they should be guaranteed a spot as long as their other markers are similar to us).

Oh man! And here I was about to celebrate thinking they are asking me this because I'm already accepted and they just want to prepare the semester schedule for the incoming cohort. Guess it's another week.

Just got a email asking if I have completed Nutrition. What does this mean? I am a second degree applicant, foreigner.

@Opera2Nursing Interesting, must a difference in how the communication exercise was done by different professors. It was the original exercise on Wednesday. For our group, we were allowed to add on to other's comments. The moderator even asked if anyone had anything to add after each person answered their own questions. I felt my two professors were really jovial and after seeing my other group members take the initiative, I had to jump on the bandwagon or be the odd quiet one. Maybe that was why my group was the second to last to finish. For us, it kind of helped relax the atmosphere since people were talking and smiling, but if its one answer per person... oh! the stress and pressure!

@Susie_Rn I attended the 9:00 to 10:30 one. Responded to my own question and then added to two other people's comments. Other than a mom and a foreign girl who only responded to their own questions, all my other group members added comments and compliments all around the room. Just try to talk as much as you can. If there are 120 and they pick 80, it's easier for them to rule people out. So be more sociable because the more quiet you are, the more likely they will rule you out. As long as you were able to speak a sentence of English, I'm sure you'll get the 2 points. I hope you get in too! CSULB only allows you to apply twice, so definitely have to make the most of it since you are already invited to the communication exercise.

Second degree and foreigner as well. Didn't get anything. I felt like my group as a whole really killed it, everyone was able to do an impromptu. The only person I felt who MIGHT of did not so well on the interview was this foreign girl in my group who also got the... what does "I" mean to you... you know... that really really hard question where everyone else was like... phew, thank god that wasnt my question! She fumbled all over the place but was still able to make it to the end. Usually everyone gets two points for the interview as long as you give the safe answers. I don't expect anyone to get additional interview requests unless they want to further evaluate you. Best way to prepare is to prep up on behavioral questions if you get additional interview requests.

Yes, basically that is how it goes. From previous boards, as long as you are able to speak a sentence of English, you'll be fine. Think of it as the impromptu speech for public communication class. Everyone got the 2 points unless you forgot to send your prompt response to the email, making them assume you didn't come so it'll have to be something big.

From my side, I received the email on Friday, and I think mostly everyone submitted their response right away. However, I checked the link yesterday on Saturday, and the link was no longer working. Definitely email for a response. I tried to double check my response because I wasn't sure if I put in my name and it wouldn't let me reschedule.

They invite 120 and pick 80. Previous years around 110 people would attend, but that was due to people living in Nor cal and the airplane flight and travel made it a hassle. With it being a zoom meeting, I'm expecting all 120 or close to 120 to attend. From that 120, 80 will be offered admission based on score and then around 15 or so offered waitlist. Sounds like we're so close and almost in! If they offer admission around November 1st as opera2nursing informed, I would be so relieved. Shoot, I'm taking 5 in progress science classes at cc just to be eligible to apply to UCI and UCLA, which has a deadline of November 31. I must pray to the nursing admission gods everyday till they offer me an acceptance.

Have you guys received the email confirmation for the Doodle zoom meeting? It said to wait 1-2 days for the zoom link. It's been 3 days now. I clicked on the date on Wednesday, maybe an hour after it was posted. Now that I re-click on the doodle link that was sent to my email, I am no longer able to click anything, my name is not even on that page. This makes me really nervous because I'm not even sure if I wrote my name anymore because I did it using my phone. *Edit: I just rechecked my email, apparently I received the email on Friday, so it hasn't really been a day, much less 1 business day. Looks like I'm just as nervous as everyone else!
