Yes 45, I’ve seen years that they took more like 50-55 depending. Going back to around 2013 it looks like they averaged from 75 applicants to 120, with the fall being higher and Spring being lower.

@Doh oh yeah you will be good to go! I think anyone who meets the requirements and has their pre-reqs complete will get in. The only reason that would change is if the applicant poll is ridiculously large but meeting with my advisor Tuesday, it doesn’t seem like that is likely.

Good job on the TEAS! I made at 82 as well and have a 3.2 but I’m finishing up Physiology right now. Are your pre-reqs complete? If so, it sounds like you will get in!

@hjohnson Oh, you are correct. Sorry, this portal thing is confusing and new to me so I am still trying to navigate it since I am not an OCCC student either. In the "my progress" part of the portal is just has an anticipated completion date. It was application login portal, in the "area of interest" that had the start date/entry date information. Either way, thanks for letting us know yours was all filled out too! Maybe its a good sign ? or maybe they fill everyone's out LOL who knows. Seems like tedious work. Also wanted to pass along this info to you guys from the BADNAP Spring 2021 board. A girl on there said she spoke with the nursing department on Friday and they told her that they received 300 traditional applications. Apparently they told her and they were very VERY surprised to have so many applicants because a) the Spring typically doesn't see that many applicants and b) because of COVID they didn't know what to expect. Anyway, I guess just because there are 300 applicants, doesn't mean they are all competitive. Being that most campuses were closed for 6-ish months, my advisor told me that many students hit roadblocks with testing and preference point opportunities so many students he had spoken to had to apply with preference points on the lower end. I don't know if any of this info is helpful but I thought I would pass it along. *fingers crossed*.

I noticed this happened to my OCCC portal as well. I just got on there to check something out and my student portal which has been blank since I am not an OCCC student now has been completely filled out with Nursing as my major and all my transfer courses added with an anticipated start date of January 2021 for "AAS Nursing". I am wondering the same thing. I am not sure if they do that for everyone that applies or what but it took me by surprise, especially since I have never attended classed at OCCC. The good news is it looks like they have all my credits transferred and in the system correctly.

@Nicole Kayy that’s interesting info. I’m on the traditional board too and it looks like a lot of people ran into road blocks with the TEAS and Accuplacer applied with 12-14 points because they aren’t able to schedule the testing due to COVID. I’m wondering if there is a lot of quantity of applications but possible less competitive. That being said, I’m wondering if because the BADNAP has a TEAS requirement if there won’t be as high of an application pool being that there were 4 months or so where people weren’t able to find a place to take the TEAS. Either way I guess we just hope for the best and apply for the Summer if we don’t get in this time around ? when I spoke to the advisor Wednesday he told me again that the Spring pool for BADNAP is typically quite a bit smaller than the Summer due to scheduling but COVID is changed so much that who even knows.

I also applied for the Spring 2021 traditional program and anxiously waiting to hear back! I applied with 15 points and 3.3 GPA. I am really hoping this applicant pool will be less competitive due to Covid keeping us from being able to obtain as many points as usual. Good luck everyone!

@dara.young yay! I’m submitting mine this evening. Did you attach your TEAS score and if so, which documentation did you use? I have the print out from OCCC but I wasn’t sure if that it the document I needed to attach.

@dara.young Yes, I ended up speaking to an advisor today who gave me the same information which was a relief. Thank you!

@dara.young I have the same situation. My Micro is 4 hours so advisor told me they would take 1 hour from General Biology. Did they tell you what steps we had to take to get that approved? On the application it says something about needing to get a “course substitution” form and have it approved but the advisor didn’t give me any of that info.

@Nashyla Hammons UCO will be opening up 2 testing dates on September 11th. I believe one of the test days is September 16th. You may give them a call tomorrow to find out for sure. If they tell you “all slots are full” tell them you were told they would be opening up more dates on the 11th. Once it opens up you will have to go on and get your spot as soon as it opens or it will fill up within an hour or two. It’s extremely stressful that there aren’t more schools opening up for opportunities to get this entrance exam completed. Seems a bit unfair since testing for the TEAS has been closed for most of this year.

@dara.young hey I meant to ask you about this! I spoke to the nursing advisor today and she said they do not use the OCCC student portal at all when reviewing applications for the program and that the only thing that matters is what is on your transcripts. Were you told something different? She explained to me that all that is required is that all transcripts are sent in and that they use them along with the courses you check on your application to ensure the course are in fact completed or pending. She said many people applying to the program do not even have or know how to use the OCCC student portal since they are attending other schools. I just want to make sure I’m not missing something in regards to the student portal?

Yes you are correct, a 70 is the minimum needed! I just wanted to try to get a bit higher to be more competitive, as well as I am applying at 2 other schools where a higher score would be helpful. I will still be in tier 2 because I’m currently in my pre-req (human phys) so no matter what I get on the TEAS I won’t be tier 1 until December ?
