Hello Mental Health RN. I appreciate your response and concern for my well being. As I am sure you are aware, anyone dealing with psych patients is at risk, regardless of experience or training. To clarify, I did have a psych rotation in nursing school. I have 3 years ED experience dealing with psych patients and have been trained in de-escalating. I also have experience in the hospital taking care of patients with psych diagnosis. That being said, my question was not about how to take care of this patient population, but how to be more professional in my documentation of home visits. My hat is off to you for taking care of this population for 7 years. I know that personally, as a full time career, it is not my forte! Again, thank you for taking the time to respond.

Hi, I have just started a per diem job doing home visits for psych pt's. I assess mental status, mood, give meds, etc, I have to document for continued home care. Can someone show me a generic care note example. I know I have to use words like at risk for decompensation without sn care. I would like to be a little more professional with my notes than what I am presently doing. Thanks for any help,

Hello, Any nurses from N.C. that can answer this? I am thinking of relocating from Boston. I am presently at a union hospital (MNA) and am trying to find one in N.C. preferably in the New Bern area. I am also considering using a travel agency for the first year before we permanently give up our roots in Massachusetts. Any thoughts? Thanks, Donna

I have been a float nurse for 1 1/2 years so I don't think I qualify for new grad anymore. The hosp I'm in does not hire new grads in the ED. The rationale behind Unit nursing is that I would get some experience with unstable patients on a much smaller scale ie: 1-1 or 1-2 as apposed to several patients in the ED at the same time.

Hi, I am a float nurse at a level 1 trauma center in Boston. I want to get into the ED and have been told (not by the ED nurse manager) that I should have a year or more experience in the Unit before I try for the ED. I also have an opportunity to do some per diem at a suburban hosp (not level 1 trauma) in the ED, should I do that while floating? Any suggestions? Thanks, Donna
