Yeah, I actually emailed (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) last week and told her to pull my app and to disregard my application. I do not think very highly of Columbia any longer, which is unfortunate considering they were my #1 school for the longest time. I decided to commit to Emory. In my opinion, they care more deeply for their students and the patient population in general. Best of luck to all you beautiful souls! And remember, do not let any program dictate your success or your ability to thrive in this profession. You do not validation from anyone or anything. You will all be amazing NURSES!

I would worry about it, but at the same time I wouldn’t worry about it. This has been said time and time again. It was said that 2015 will DEFINITELY be the year that NP’s are required to have a DNP....and still nothing LOL I was actually just speaking with my RN manager about this topic a few weeks back!?

I have to agree with you Leah. I have been working as a tech for almost 7 years and while having a BSN is fabulous having a masters from a reputable institution does make you stand out. I didn’t realize this until I was recently hired on with MAYO CLINIC and had received a recent acceptance to Johns Hopkins. You definitely become topic of conversation for sure.

Does anyone know the GRAND total tuition for the entire program? I know it also depends on specialty but the numbers I don’t think would be that far off.

Johns Hopkins is a waaaaaay better school than NYU....and more reputable. From what I have heard NYU really likes accepting those who are not looking to use financial aid. Which is unfortunate as they claim to “diverse” @Nurse90 I am not sure who you are but I am confident you’ll get into Columbia if you got into Johns Hopkins. I would totally shake NYU to be honest.....shame on them for rejecting AMAZING applicants. And just remember... even if a school is “harder” to get into does not mean it is the school that is going to best prepare you as a registered nurse and that does not mean it is higher ranked or a better program.

So many people are really counting on this acceptance. For many this is the only program they are applying to. Not everyone as the luxury or the funds to move to a different state for school. I really hope you are being honest.

I am assuming you are just trying to be informative. This whole process has been giving all of us added anxiety and it would totally not be cool if you are stirring the pot here.

@Sss Mine says the exact same thing! I did email ---------------------. I applied to AG-PCNP and I was nervous that it did not specify on my acceptance letter. Would you mind taking a picture of your acceptance? I was also accepted into the program but it did not specify the specialty I chose which is AG-PCNP. Kind of stressed about this LOL This is what mine said... "Congratulations! We are pleased to let you know that you have been selected for admission to the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing’s Accelerated Master of Science in Nursing (Prelicensure+MSN) program for the 2021 enrollment cycle. As an admitted student in the Priority Decision round, you are now under consideration for our merit-based scholarship opportunities. Students selected for these awards will be notified by email in mid-December 2020. " LOL where is the specialty part???

This may be true in New York City but from working in the hospital for the past five years as a CNA there are about 20 to 40 nurses that I know that only have their RN but are working to get their BSN. I live in Phoenix Arizona so I’m sure it’s different to a certain degree. And the pay isn't different either. If you are a brand new RN in a hospital you get paid as much as a brand new RN with a BSN. I will say it’s probably easier to get a job with the BSN. I see it 50/50 of the time it works out.

Associates programs grant an RN not a BSN. You can be a nurse without a BSN Just FYI
