Anyone get an email yet from Identogo (the fingerprinting folks)? The nursing department DID say it was on delay, but I know we can’t get our blue card from the BON until all that is processed. I wonder if it’s worth getting the prints done through them BEFORE the school-appointed email. Thoughts? Also SUPER curious what courses may land online. I’d actually prefer lecture to be online, and labs at school.

That is some serious DRIVE. Yes, ma’am!! Auroriux.. it sounds like you have have been misinformed. The protocol for Lone Star is all clear on the nursing website requirements. Your overall GPA is not as critical for their programs as your Eng 1301 and either A&P 1, or 2. You cannot repeat the lecture portion of a science course without also repeating the corresponding laboratory course. The only way to deduct from your overall credits is to fair less than you did the first time around. Microbiology, pharmacology, psychology, philosophy, and maybe nutrition or lifespan development.. some of those are co-requ’s for the ADN, and others are good to have in your pocket if you’re aiming for a BSN degree anytime down the line. HESI scores attribute to the other 50% at Lone Star, and I’d suggest you at least aim for AT LEAST 90% overall for the ADN programs. Best of luck!

Are you applying to the Spring ‘21? If you got a booster back in Feb, you should have a positive immunity now ? just go get that quantitative titer tested, and if it’s positive, then that’s all you’ll need to submit for your heb B records.

I’m not sure if removing/replacing your aids is the obstacle/solution.. I commend you for opening up about your impairment. I did notice an article that had a decent amount of activity on this site, albeit back in 2015.. at least have solace that you aren’t alone here. Slay on.

You’re solid.. the v2 was just listed as the exam link for folks who had to take the exam via proctorU. If someone were to re-take the exam in a certain time period, they’d (in theory) be given the second version of the exam, v2, so they’d get a new round of questions. The “A2” behind HESI A2 stands for “admissions assessment”. You got this!

Who told you that it was received? Contact that person, and the dept where you are applying, and let them know what’s up. If you want to send them your exam # and delivery #, log in to evolve.elsevier.com, if you have an account there. It should have your last test there under my content. I just started my online pharm today.. 6 wks through Tomball campus. I can’t disclose the profs’ names, but I was really encouraged by reading my classmates’ introduction posts on the discussion board. It feels like a lot of us are putting our big-girl britches on, even when we’re sitting behind our home computer screen with flashcards in one hand and baby formula in the other..Trying to give my future self a fighting chance at juggling courseload. Fight that good fight, y’all.

For sure, that’s a great score! I’d consider your commute time for campus selection. That extra half-hour in traffic could make or break your morning. I *think* some of the campuses let you aim your clinical sites on your zip code preference. Cy-fair has not done that in the past, but I’ll suck it up so I can finish Dec ‘21. Good luck, sis! I recall on the admission sheet that a HS diploma was a requirement, but when I applied there wasn’t a drop box for that file... also curious where I should get my CPR cert out of the way. That would be cool to do as a group activity, since we may not be seeing each other face-to-face for a hot minute. Let’s see.. fingerprints.. background check.. a lifetime supply of highlighters.. Ouch, please don’t let this leave you rejected from the field. I’ve personally known plenty of folks who’ve benefitted from the anti-inflammatory properties in CBD lotion.. Rheumatoid issues, scoliosis.. shucks, preferring their dominant hand too often and left with a bout of tendinitis. I should note that anyone I’ve known using CBD for pain has used it topically, like as a lotion or serum. I digress.. none of them were being tested in a state that says ‘no wayyyy, sister’. So you’re concerned because you ‘take hemp oil’? That’s just a soluble derivative of the cannabis seed, pretty much like olive or avocado oil. So if you’re smothering yourself in something that innocuous, but nervous about a drug test, have at it. You could DIY with some quarantine face cream, all day. The real gig is when you mentioned that you ‘take’ hemp oil for anxiety and chronic pain. The only way you’d reap any benefits in this fashion is to be taking a cannabinoid derivative. This is often referred to as the Entourage Effect. Granted, the psychoactive THC component In CBD is ‘supposed’ to be something like, 0.3% concentrate here in Texas, but our blood tests as medical professionals don’t skew for that. It’s a pass/fail situation. In NO WAY am I knocking potential CBD benefits for your anxiety and chronic pain. There’s a whole slew of routes you could take with Big Pharm and be tumbling down a massive wormhole, while the other hand shows huge success for those who’ve been diagnosed and successfully given an appropriate drug. If you are, in fact, taking something cannabinoid-based, then I’d suggest you cut it now, not when you’ve received your acceptance letter. Much respect for being open about your anxiety. Slay on.

WOW!!, I appreciate those of you who have disclosed your previous nursing school experiences. I went to TWU a decade ago for my BSN, and didn’t make it through my last semester. I literally had nightmares about the nursing director. I was lambasted in front of my peers and patients for almost two years, just to fail out with one test, HER test, right at the end. I didn’t pinch her nails for capillary refill. She made me an example for the incoming class, while I was still standing there. I was so torn up about it, and felt so personally attacked by this woman, that I chose not to remediate. I needed therapy.. but that would make too much sense, right? I felt like such a failure, so much so that I wouldn’t face anyone I had previously boasted to about how I just LOVED my nursing school. I’m still paying off those student loans.. I’d like to say I’ve let my resentment go, but maybe I’ll keep it as some fuel for this next go-round. In time, I did get my spirit back. I went a completely different direction, and have worked in the wine industry for the last 8 years. It’s been great, but the other side of my brain is tugging, so here I am, at 32, going back to nursing school. Gotta stay thirsty, right? Cheers, y’all.

CONGRATS on your hustle! While this news may seem a bit unsettling for everyone who applied early, I commend you on your transparency. Thank you for letting the community know that re-submission is actually possible. I DO believe that others were told they couldn’t re-submit a month ago, because the climate and circumstances were different then. I’d suggest anyone who is aiming to boost their score should find their testing resource ASAP. Once you have your physical scores to update, it should be a matter of contacting the department and asking them to relinquish your application and allow the system to update automatically, then re-submit. This doesn’t have to turn into a witch-burning or fear-mongering circumstance. Try to look at it as an opportunity that wasn’t available before, and now it is. Positive vibes, y’all.

Are you wondering about the Spring application? The basic track for Cy-Fair and Kingwood are opening June 2 through August 7, according to the site. It’s kind of crazy that the Fall app deadline got pushed back to June 12. I suppose that means from June 2 to June 12 there will be two applications open? Curious about that overlap. My condolences for your circumstances. You really seem enthusiastic to get the program started. For the record, your score at 7.77 is KILLER. Are you able to float that HESI score to Spring? In truth, this process is stressful and convoluted enough WITHOUT a pandemic. Maybe waiting until Spring would give you a huge advantage, while the program works out the inevitable kinks that’ll come about in Fall, if we’re STILL stuck online. I hope you can find a silver lining!

The sheet of paper is allowed.. just show it to your webcam when they’re walking you through the set-up. The calculator is on the screen. You also need to show your phone, and put it away somewhere they can see (I stuffed it under a pillow). You need to scan the four sides of the room, and the floor as well. I shifted my iMac around and that seemed to suit just fine. My proctor said Lone Star allowed bathroom breaks, but that I needed to notify him in the chat box prior to standing up. My proctor never responded to my requests, so I sat in silence, with a full bladder, for about four hours. I digress.. As far as studying for the HESI? Ho, brother. I’d message you, but I don’t have that capability on the site yet. The test is surprisingly short. I jumped into math and reading first, because I figured they’d take the longest for me. I had a 96 in math and 94 in reading. Each screen is a new, individual question, and I was under the impression that you could return to a previous answer, so I skipped two without realizing that it’s a final submission with each question. Hence my two unanswered in reading. Math had about ten fill in the blank questions, and the majority of it was simply ratios. I’d say I over-prepared in my conversion studies, but I’ll need that down the line anyway. Grammar was a bit of a jerk. I scored 100, but I honestly moved through the questions like, ehhh you’re drawing straws here. English is my first language, but that makes it no less obnoxious in syntax. Vocabulary was not altogether difficult. Context clues were spot on. 100 there. Anatomy.. shortest section, maybe 30ish questions.. just think back to basics. It is not intended to trick you. I thought I had a trick question and it was the one I missed. 96 on A&P. The Lone Star set up had Biology and Chemistry, as well as the personality test and critical thinking, on my roster when I signed in. I knew what I did need, although it goosed me for a minute to see other sections not completed when I submitted. Critical thinking is straight up what would you do as a nurse. NCLEX-style prioritizing. You can absolutely be coached, so don’t beat yourself up. 920 there.. Good luck!

New to this site.. I DO happen to be one of those students who scheduled the HESI back in early February.. It’s not all ‘tough cookies’, over here... I’m NOT waiting until the next application period. Any negative narrative I’ve read aside, it’s go-time, y’all. Just want to give a massive shout out to the beautiful universe for those who wished well on anyone trying to get this test under their belt.. specifically to a stellar nursing director of Lone Star, way up north of Houston proper, who personally saw to it to reach out to those who had scheduled and had tests cancelled. I sure wish I could say her name, but no doubt, faith restored over here.. I took my exam via ProctorU. Albeit it was a headache and a half, and my puppy had massive FOMO the entire time, my video proctor reassured me that as long as she couldn’t give me any answers, I’d succeed on through. Applying only to Cy-Fair, Fall 2020. 7.888. Looking forward to meeting my cohort. Slay on. .
