Can I ask why you switched? I am considering between those 2 schools too.

Has anyone done a PhD or DNP at UTMB or any degree at this university? Please comment how your experience has been. Hoping for Fall 2023.

@kayb129 I cannot attest to people working in this program. You will be discouraged from doing so since it is so accelerated. But truly a personal decision. I think some work part time. Everyone's different. Just don't make a big announcement about it. LOL Clinical sites so far have been great & instructors have been good! By preceptor, I assume you mean the nurses you shadow in the hospital? Those are hospital employees - most are welcoming of nursing students. Really depends on the site & we have been able to gradually progress from giving injections to some IVs etc. But this will be over the span of your clinical experience over the semesters. I don't have much info on scholarships. You could contact [email protected] who is the Financial Aid Manager who may direct you.

@kayb129 Here is an honest input. Let me know if more Qs. 1) The program is rigorous - courses crammed into a span of 12 months. Courses have on-campus lectures plus online units, so self-pacing is necessary. The best thing you can do for yourself is find out your optimum studying style. When the program starts, you will feel overwhelmed and stressed (not going to lie), but time management and organization is absolute KEY! Be organized from day 1. Keep a planner. It DOES get better & the course load gets better mid Fall as the harder classes end. Make friends, group study, etc. Don't be isolated. 2) I think the rigor surprises many students as they forget it is accelerated, so be prepared to put in more study hours than you usually do. Study a few hours every day to keep up, but don't forget to take time for yourself too. Remember - it is all about the quality of your studying (comprehension & retention), NOT the quantity! 3) There is good support from staff. Communicate early if you have issues so you can be supported. Profs are great! 4) Depending on the courses, at least 2-3 days a week on campus (sometimes till 4pm, other days till noon). It will change as courses end & new ones start. But never on campus all 5 days. When clinical starts, you will be off site 2x a week.

@allipalmer That is amazing information. Thanks so much. A big concern is that I just cannot relocate. I have family and commitments here in Dallas so I have to stick to here. I know Dallas is a coveted place too. Do they insist on 2 separate location choices when one applies? Can I choose Dallas for both? LOL

@Future _RN, @allipalmer, @kinsey Hey all, thanks so much. My concern is how hard it is to be accepted in Dallas. Relocating is not an option for me. I heard acceptance is holistic but am not entirely sure. I have most of the prereqs except for a few courses. Do they cap enrollments? What exactly do they want out of applicants? Is one location harder to get into than another? Do they provide employment assistance? I worry because I am already in the BU ABSN that starts in May. I am almost 50 and this is a 2nd career change and don't want to waste any more time, but at the same moment, want to consider finances. Some friends have told me I should do BU regardless because it is a great program especially since I am already accepted.

Hey all. I am hoping to apply for Spring 2022 in Dallas. I have been admitted to BU for their ABSN, but am contemplating TTU for the lower tuition. However, I am curious about TTU's application process, competitiveness and acceptance rate, etc. Anyone willing to answer a few questions? Thanks.

@Taylor, I believe it is rolling because I won't apply till later in Sept too since I am waiting to finish 2 more prereqs. The application is open till Jan 15 anyway. During the info session, they said they take in about 70 ish students and I got the impression they don't cap. If your application & scores are good & you do well in the interview, then it seemed like it would be a shoo-in.

@Delta. I completed the HESI 2 weeks ago. Vocab (96) & Grammar (100) was quite easy in my opinion. If you have a decent command of English, then you should do great! Reading Comprehension was the trickiest.

I am mostly set on Baylor's ABSN too though the $ is a factor. This is a late career change for me & I have a kid in college right now plus another in high school. I have been looking into Texas Tech's ABSN though I can only enroll to start in Jan 2022 since they require TEAS & some other stuff which would take time. I wish we didn't have any bible course to do for Baylor. Where are you all getting that credit from? I will probably get it at Wayland. I looked at TWU, UTA & TCU but TWU is extremely competitive, UTA prefers you do prereqs there & TCU has other prereqs & my communication with their advisor was a hit or a miss. To date, Baylor's advisor has been top notch & very communicative. I really like that so I may stick with them. I just need to figure out the tuition.

To be honest, I found it easy. I studied for 2 weeks. We only need to take all the English (grammar, vocab, comprehension) & Math. I am a Math major (& former teacher) so I got over 90 for all the sections. Reading comprehension is tricky & I have heard NurseHub helps though I have not personally used it. I just googled and used free resources. Math - lots of ratios/proportions Know your conversions (km/m, pint/oz.....) Adding, subtracting fractions (including improper fractions & mixed numbers). My friend in Houston did her test a few days ago. She said she found many resources on Quizlet.

Hi all, so I just finished an info session for the Fastbacc program. They said clinical locations are assigned based on availability and students can't choose which location they want to be. So does this mean someone could end up in a far off site for clinicals? Do they not consider proximity when assigning it?

Where are you all seeing this on the ATI website? After creating an account, the site asked for student id/institution. So I can't proceed beyond that.

Really interested for 2022. Any idea how competitive this program is? I am looking at the ABSN.
