I’ll start with saying I am currently in my second semester out of 4 in JC and I love the program. I cannot speak for each cohort, but I can explain the best I can from my own experience.
Due to COVID, our program got extended from 12 months to 15 months. We began Fall 2020 and will end by Fall 2021 making it a total of 4 semesters. Initially we were bummed because we had all planned for a 12 month program, HOWEVER it is a blessing in disguise. The amount of course work is no joke. Completely manageable but I had to stop working 30 hours per week to 5 this second semester. You need to know yourself and how much you can take on. That is something to consider regarding duration and finances.
Regarding tuition, although our program got extended from 12 to 15 months, the tuition is the same. They spread the same total cost over 4 semesters which equals around $34K give or take. They do offer school insurance as an additional cost, it is not mandatory but it is a nice option to consider. I have not had an issue applying for and being granted financial aid, however we as a class are unsure about Summer aid opportunities. The department is good about sending out scholarship opportunities for students that you can apply for on your own time.
I am sure this is subject to change for future cohorts- but a typical week regarding the first and second semesters is Monday-Friday. Our first semester we were asynchronous on Mondays for patho. Tuesday-Friday we met on zoom with one class each day ending around 4pm. This second semester we were finally able to get some in person class time for labs and clinical! We are not 100% in person, our lectures have been on Zoom. A lot of schools have been finding out as we go regarding which sites are allowing in person students and which will be supplemented online. Once the department knows, we know. Hopefully as the world opens back up, it will benefit the future classes to have more in person experience.
