  1. Yes of course! ? I'll send you my IG username in the message I sent you
  2. I apologize for the late reply. Thank you! @RNzippidity ? Congrats to you as well!! I've heard that they'll start us off in postpartum for 6 months-1 year before having us go to L&D. I'm not sure if that's still part of the process tho And yes I am following the FB group!
  3. Hi @newgradnursing333 ? I received an offer two days after I received a rejection email. I received a rejection on 12/17 and got an offer on 12/19. I believe someone declined their offer and I was the backup. I will be working in the perinatal unit at RR
  4. Just checked and my app says closed. I applied for RR perinatal. I guess this is the end of the line for UCLA. Wishing everyone the best of luck on their nursing journey ? Remember that you're meant to be where you're meant to be. At least that's what makes me feel better ?
  5. Nope nothing on my end
  6. I have a friend that has worked at CHLA for the past 5 or 6 years. She said she loves it there but the pay isn't very good. To help you get an idea, I would make more per hour as a new grad at UCLA compared to her current hour rate at CHLA. Like almost $10 more. This same friend worked at UCLA while she was getting her RN license and she told me that the culture at CHLA was better than UCLA's. Of course everyone has their own experience and opinion but that's what my friend had shared with me
  7. Hi! Thank you for sharing this info ? do you mind sharing how much the pay rate for new grads is at your hospital?
  8. I am over this. I kinda don't want it anymore ?
  9. That's what I'm assuming. This was their response: "Thank you for reaching out. We should be notifying you in regards to the departments decisions by this Friday."
  10. They said we should receive decisions by this Friday so there’s still some hope left. LOL
  11. For those who have not heard any news yet, I have sent an email asking for an update. I will keep you posted!
  12. Has anyone tried emailing or calling them and asking for an update? I'm thinking about emailing them and letting you all know what they tell me. But if someone has already done so, I don't want to bombard them with another email. At this point I'm not expecting an offer but I want to hear it from them so I can move on with my life. LOL
  13. @DianaM. No portal change or offer here ?
  14. @Ari26 I haven't heard from RR perinatal yet ? also, when I try going to the page to log into my portal, it keeps saying error
  15. LOL yes they were terrible. I hate writing papers so it was the worst! But you can get through it! Yeah I would for sure look at what's the most affordable and fits best with your schedule. If you got accepted into a Cal State or CC, I would recommend going that route to say money
  16. Hi @lr88 sorry for the late response 1) for the theology courses, you do them on your own time but submit things by certain deadlines. When I took the courses, each week the professor would assign readings and videos to watch and then you'd write essays each week. For the 1st nursing semester, I recall it being 2 days a week. However, it may have changed since I took my 1st semester. 2) For clinical placements, you had no say so. I do not live in the oc area so I commute far and for some reason they'd always place me at the furthest hospital. there were hospitals a lot closer to my house but they'd never place me at them. They always told us to never request a change so I never asked. Maybe you could ask for special arrangements? If you don't mind me asking, have you been accepted to other nursing programs?
  17. Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone can let me know if City of Hope only allows you to apply to their new grad program if you have your RN license? Also, does anyone know if they only have March and September cohorts?
  18. Hi @Kelseyyyyy! ? It says it's about $1,220 per year but I'm not sure if it increases every year
  19. @kmcali Honestly, I think they were just trying to get to know us. Someone may look good on paper but not so great in person. Just be yourself and try not to compare yourself to others (I know it's hard!). Also, it's okay to brag about yourself a little ? I hate bragging about myself, but they asked what was my greatest accomplishment and I had to brag a little.
  20. @kmcali I wanna say there were a little over 10 but no more than 15
  21. @Tinyseabee Oh yeah it helps with those bleach wipes! I'm not sure why else they make us wear white. I think it's been tradition for nursing students to wear white scrubs for clinicals. LOL a lot of us don't like the uniform but we got over it. We just told ourselves that we only have to wear them for a year
  22. @Tinyseabee LOL we're on the same boat! I have medi-cal We have to wear a white top and forest green pants. Unfortunately, we have to buy them through the supplier that the school uses ?
  23. @Tinyseabee So it's actually closer to $58k, but I rather overestimate than underestimate. It includes fees like graduation fee, student service fees, lab fee, malpractice insurance, ATI (system we use to help us get ready for NCLEX), clinical uniform cost, health insurance, etc. But some costs may not apply to you, like health insurance. I already have health insurance, so I don't need to worry about that being a cost for me. Also, right now tuition is $825 per unit but I heard it increases every year.
  24. @K.quino16 The program is about $60k. This only includes the tuition and fees, so it doesn't include your living expenses. Personally, I took out federal loans and then took out a private loan. Not sure if you know this but utilize federal loans first before private loans. They tend to have lower interest rates and you do not have to make any payments while in school. Hi @Tinyseabee! When I interviewed, about 200 ppl were interviewed and only 64 ppl got accepted
  25. Hi @futurenursesar! Aw you're welcome! I was in your shoes before so I wish I had some advice and tips. But I do wanna apologize ahead of time if I take a few days to reply. This program is nonstop. From what I recall, you start the day with the staff covering the agenda for the day. Then I believe they introduce themselves. After that you get broken off in groups. I think I had 8 ppl in my group. Then one of the staff members come into the room and ask you all the same question. Each of you take your turn answering the questions, or the staff will call on you randomly. There will be some staff who are more laid back than others, but just be yourself and confident in your answers ? All of this occurs on zoom. What I advise is that you get comfortable, have good lighting and a full battery on your laptop or tablet. Also, try to think of the reasons why you want to be a nurse and what qualities you have that will make you a great nurse. I hope all of this helps!
