  1. Hey everyone, Some info about me. I'm a 33 year old practicing Physical Therapist (for 6 years) in outpatient orthopedics as well as homecare based geriatrics. I'm looking to go back to school, ultimately to become a primary care NP. Although I love what I do with regard to outpatient orthopedics, some of the job duties including health promotion, and triaging patients/screening etc, over the years has lead me to take course work in these areas to further my knowledge base. Unfortunately, it isn't really my role as a PT to help patient manage/prevent medical conditions, hence my interest in primary care. My pre-req GPA is about 3.9 ish, still taking a few pre-requisites now, undergrad GPA was 3.7 ish, and my DPT program GPA was about 3.67 I think. I'm not looking to saddle myself with a significant amount of student debt (I'm almost totally debt free now), so I"m looking at instate schools like Stonybrook, Hunter, and SUNY downstate, which also happen to be highly competitive programs. Looking to see if there is anything else others may recommend to make my application more competitive, for instance; is it a thing to shadow? Thanks for any ideas, tips etc.
  2. Hello All, Congratulations on your acceptance, I'm excited for you! I'm a physical therapist, strongly considering changing my career tract. This program was one of the programs I have my sights set on for the future. One detail I was hoping to get clarity on- is it full time? Are you able to work at all? I see that it's a two year program, certainly more affordable than many of the other programs. Thanks for any input. Best of luck to you all, and stay healthy!
