  1. I am in the program now and commute from Rockland too! It's hard sometimes, but not terrible. Def helped that the last while has been fully online.
  2. In cohort 5 most ended up passing even though many were failing, because it became online. In cohort 4, 15 out of 45 failed the first time around and had to retake the semester
  3. She ran the school and was the only one available to help students with requests and to provide information. She is the 3rd higher faculty member to leave in a few months, and there are 2 following closely behind her. PSON is a failing institution
  4. It is so true! They have been absolutely awful about student concerns during COVID. Our Summer semester begins in a month and we have absolutely no information on the set up for it. there are students who will have no childcare, be in a different state etc, yet PSON refuses to announce a Summer plan, probably because they havent got one yet.
  5. there are some people in my cohort who manage to work part time bc they have no other commitments! I would say try that before quitting! especially because in the first semester there are no clinicals!
  6. Mt Sinai will never do anything to make it easier for the students, regardless of COVID. Also there is no one to ask bcuz the only helpful staff member just resigned after 18 years due to the downfall of PSON Re supplies - a laptop is essential, and textbooks will be told to you with each class, but the PDFs are just as good! I paid 160 for a textbook bc the teacher said the newest edition is best, and she was using an older edition herself and based answers on her book, which at times conflicted with the new edition! So dont waste money on them! youll end up teaching yourself from you tube mostly!
  7. pre immersion is just some discussion boards about what you expect, how you study, etc good luck!
  8. Id be so happy to share! PSON is going through a very rough patch, between trying to move buildings, and not giving a shiz about students, my experience as a nursing student has been completely ruined. No one answers emails, no one communicates. Most of the faculty and admin has left, even staff who have worked there for 20 years, because the situation is so out of hand, PSON will hire a tree willing to teach - our professors are mostly AWFUL, with the exception of just one or two. The tests are often incorrectly graded but the professors refuse to correct themselves. there is no one to turn to for help, ever. I have had to teach myself every thing that I know! even now, with COVID, the school was so so unaccommodating to student concerns during finals - and wouldn't help students who had childcare/ time lag conflicts. this is also the only school in NYC who still hasn't communicated their Summer plan to the students in light of COVID. I wish you a lot of luck
  9. they absolutely do not
  10. I do! Message me!
  11. Hey! Before I started I heard it was Hybrid, in our first semester some classes were only every other week - but now we have all classes every week and nothing is hybrid at all. We have had classes end in the evening sometimes, and it will be somewhat frightening in that area, I guess we will have to stick in big groups.
  12. there is one scholarship that you can get, it is 2K and its given depending on an essay you write for it
  13. I took out 42K in private loans, and was awarded 10K in federal loans I also got the scholarship from the school which was 2K
  14. They also make every attempt to have students fail classes so they have to repeat semesters - giving the school more money. That was harder with take home assignments due to COVID19, but last semester 25% of the cohort failed pharm and had to take it again with our cohort now. that is A HUGE percentage
  15. Additionally, they certainly couldn't handle the cohort size, and many faculty members who left stated that that was one of the reasons they did so. The admissions counselor who is leaving also said they are planning to have the same numbers for the next cohort and she couldnt watch more people go through that, so she quit
  16. I stand corrected - Pharm is a great professor. However, for med surg which is one of the most important nursing school classes, we were assigned a babysitter to read us the slides, rather than a professor to teach them. I am in cohort 5 too!
  17. I am in PSON right now and advise others to stay away. Yes, it is cheaper than NYU, but its just not worth it. The program is a scam, you teach yourself EVERYTHING. Professors are awful at communicating, make bad grading errors which they refuse to change, and don't know the material well enough to give it over. PSON would hire a tree willing to teach for them, it feels like a babysitting agency. Additionally, the admin staff are not accommodating, and dont care that all lectures this semester were in an auditorium bc we don't have a school. Our class size is 110 instead of the advertised 50, in order to fund their new building. No one works in the school, all their staff leave one by one due to the conditions and the mess that this school is. Financial aid has been unstaffed for 2 months, leaving students without their loans taken out to cover rent. GO SOMEPLACE ELSE IF YOU VALUE YOUR DIGNITY AND MENTAL HEALTH!
  18. I really don't mean to sound so negative and angry and bitter - I just want you all to know! Faculty and professors are constantly quitting bc they cant deal with the mess either! The issue is that they keep promising us it will change, and not keeping to their word, so many students have given up on them
  19. There are some students with family and friends in NYU and they report being MUCH happier
  20. We did have the same professor throughout but she doesn't speak enough English to write exams - so any review she gave didn't actually match the exam bc she didn't write them! They sometimes did a review for the exam - but it didn't match the exam content
  21. Don't worry - I really want people to be aware before they jump in! Clinicals were actually pretty good - the placements were generally good except for a few groups who had to switch mid semester bc they were not learning anything. The teachers read the slides - and dont add anything, its literally a babysitting service. They dont help you study or give any guidance for exams - its a complete **** show. We beg for assistance and get email replies of one word, 2 weeks too late. They also grade exams and dont allow us to review them, and once accidentally opened it to students and we saw that several questions were marked wrongly - so we dont trust them grading our exams at all. Some of them are so so difficult to deal with and dont even speak English! I am NOT exaggerating - speak to anyone in the cohort! Only 4 out of 110 students attended the white coat ceremony bc they scheduled it the day before two HUGE exams and refused to change it. During this pandemic, they have been so unaccommodating and unhelpful. The Dean refuses to talk to students over the phone to discuss issues. I can keep going for hours, this has been an absolute scam, waste of money, and waste of emotional health. I am looking forward to leaving already!
  22. Is it awful, not gonna lie. We email the dean all day with complaints and get completely shut down. The proffessors are so so bad. I am not an angry student complaining bc of bad grades, I got all As last semester, and A on the final today - and dont have grades for my other classes yet but will have an A or A-. This is bc of self study, stress, crying, breakdowns. The school are completely unwilling to help any students, and its awful
  23. The reason you havent heard is because no one actually works here anymore,Its all a scam. ------------------- who you have all been talking to gave notice and will be leaving in a few weeks and absolutely no one will be sending out acceptances, or communicating with applicants at all.
